Hi folks! I just discovered that TriCare, the non-VA medical insurance for active duty and retired folks, now covers SRS with a twist- they need documentation (read: Psychiatrist and therapist) that the individual has suffered from dysphoria since birth. This is a major, major shift for the military community! Hoorah and cheers.

Hello, I have been on hormones since November 2011. I usually take my one E in the morning with an anti-androgen and then one E in the evening with another anti-androgen. Is it okay to do this, or should I be taking all the E at the same time? Thank you, Emily

  4. This article isn't specific to trans folk except that there is an interest in ultimately being able to have children as cisgender folk are able to do. This article has a number links to transplant information including a successful penis transplant. All of which, again, for cisgender patients, but it also speaks to a potential that could one day benefit trans folk. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/speaking-of-science/wp/2016/02/26/cleveland-clinic-announces-first-successful-uterus-transplant-in-the-u-s/

The news is slowly leaking out about SRS and Medicare. SRS can be performed with the help of Medicare. However, All states and All doctors are not accepting Medicare. Some doctors that are performing SRS with Medicare are considering their position. Medicare are not paying those Doctors that are currently performing SRS enough money to cover the Doctors skills and giving them a wage for doing this procedure. It will be great that the trans community promote those doctors and encourage them to continue to accept Medicare to provide SRS . The trans community should promotes those doctor that do SRS and encourage them to continue to perform SRS and offer them money to encou…

  6. I celebrated Trans Day of Visibility both yesterday in Washington DC and today , in Richmond Virginia . Let me explain that history was actually made in Richmond simply by a PUBLIC display of the event ! NEVER EVER has there been a public display of this , ever ! Locally, the Nationz foundation , primarily a outreach of Gay and Transgender people of color presented a wonderful panel discussion where Transgender people answered questions of what it means to be Transgender , Gay and add African American to the equation! Meanwhile , Yesterday , in Washington DC , I was at the No Ma Gallery Spaces presenting Diane Kelly's new book, The Sky Turned Green and the Grass tuned Bl…

Hey, guys! I am doing a survey on the mental health of trans people before and after transitioning. All responses are anonymous, so if you could please help me out, that'd be great. I promise it doesn't take more than 5 minutes. Click here to take the survey If there are any issues, please tell me. Thanks!

I am 58 and I've been taking herbal estrogen and perscription estrogen for about 11 months now and I am so very pleased with my tender, sensitive, and growing breasts. I feel like they are something that should have been there a long time ago. I am now at that stage where I have to be careful about which shirt I wear because the nipples are always showing on my nice summer shirts. I should stop now and be happy with them as they are, but I seem to be driven by something I have no control over. The thought of being more womanly is like a drug. I could stop eating before I stop becoming what I need to become. Nobody knows and there is nobody I can talk to, but at this…

  11. You see with the current way things are working.. I'm living paycheck to paycheck, so I find it very difficult to save anything. Or it happens that I get to save a little bit of money on the side and then something happens that I have to suddenly spend that on something important to keep me going, like recently my jeep. So I haven't been able to save anything for my surgery and my consultation is coming up at the beginning of the new year! I'm struggling and my dysphoria is getting worse.. (Suggestions are greatly appreciated!) Please help 😩

ive decided that im going to have to give up being transgender as living where im living i cant be myself nor can i really afford the stuff to look pretty and gothic like i want to. those who are like me know what im going thru and know it takes money to fix what is inside us. i know some will be disappointed in me but what can i really do. not like i can pull money out my arse every month. 700 monthly dont go far when you got to pay rent and bills and food. here is the factors that made me decide this: 1) no friends literally that i can hang out wiith that are like me in my area that drive as i dont drive at all 2) my current residence town wise prevents me from b…

TRIGGER WARNING: DISCUSSION OF EATING DISORDERS Hi! Lately I’ve been doing a lot of pro-ana searches. I haven’t been able to find much support for eating disorders and transgender people. This is the first time I think I may be aware of it before it really becomes a problem, before I may need hospitalization and treatment. Sometimes when I don’t eat it takes an intervention before I acknowledge that I am becoming ana again. Have I been eating or not eating? I think I’ve been eating but there have been lots of remarks from people who care about me about how thin I’m getting and sometimes they ask me if I eat at all. Am I fat or thin? I don’t know anymore. If there ar…

I told my dad last night that i am transgender and asexual. He seemed okay with it at first, but then earlier today he indicated that he thought i wasn't really either of those. He seemed to think that some of my friends in my LGBT group somehow persuaded me that i was transgender and asexual rather than realizing it on my own. At first i thought he was accepting of me but now i am not so sure. What do you think? Do you think maybe he is just trying to cope with it? Do you think maybe he is trying to make sure this is who i really am? I am not sure what to think and i need to know how he feels about me.

  15. Michelle Wolf | March 30 2015 4:00 AM ET "Then she went into discussing privilege — and one by one, I could see her losing them. From there, she transitioned into talking about white trans privilege, and she started to even lose some of the trans folk. Nothing she said was the least bit untrue, but nevertheless, the message was building up the very walls she so effectively knocked down moments before." -- advocate.com Op-ed: Why Labeling Others As 'Privileged' Isn't Helping Trans Activists ________________________________________________________ I understand perfectly what the author is saying... but perhaps it's time that Americans face truth and accept reality…

Yesterday I used my male voice to answer a question to my best female friend and she physically shuttered and said never do that ever again. I've had no voice training but have developed a decent female voice that is not difficult to keep it up and have been doing this for a while now. I will say it was hard to get the male voice going yesterday which surprised me. So that brings me to a question, how many here have been working on their female voice and what success rate do you have with it?

Yesterday I went to my GP to get a referral to the Gender Identity Clinic. I felt, to illustrate the matter, it best to go dressed appropriately. My doctor's is beside my place of work, so I dropped off my cycle pannier and trainers at my locker beside the office and headed over, dressed in a nice skirt, top and cardigan combo. I didn't bother with make-up or a wig, because I didn't feel like it. I wore my man boots, because my new girl boots haven't arrived yet. I like to mix it up a bit! In work I am not allowed to wear women's clothes until I have notified Human Resources and senior management at least one month in advance, to allow them to properly manage the "pro…

  18. I am a 32 year old cissexual female and have been with my trans (mtf) partner for several years. When I met her she had been on estrogen (patches) for nearly 4 years and was living as a woman full-time. After deciding we wanted to try and start a biological family together, she made the difficult decision to come off hormones in an attempt to regain her fertility. Appallingly, she hadn’t been offered any proper or feasible support with regards to banking sperm and the discussion was briskly over-looked by doctors, so coming off hormones was the only option. We are now doting, proud parents to a beautiful, healthy girl. Our daughter took a year and a half to conceive a…

Recently I've read some posts here and at other places that some feel that they are too old to transition or to make the changes needed to be the people they want to be. It's never too late to make positive changes. Change is not easy but consider the alternative. Do you wish to be miserable and unhappy or do you desire to be happy, content, and full of vitality. Society will tell you that when you're in middle age, you're no longer productive or that you have nothing of value to offer. What gets me is that society thinks that we do not have the creative ideas or the desire to make change. Yes we can change and we can have an impact on others. When I read posts I'm…

  22. "Honey guess what? I'm really a Transphobe!" - The Jerry Springer Show & Transphobia You may have seen me posting on Twitter and Facebook about "The Jerry Springer" show, and that I find it extremely Transphobic. In fact I detest it and I know MANY Trans People who it's affected - some who delayed transition because of fears of ridicule and the stigma attached and exacerbated by this show... and others who gave up their goals because of this show. This is for all the girls and guys who made it, and to those who sadly didn't. So - "The Jerry Springer Show". It wouldn't look out of place at a carnival... Jerry could easily stand there as ringmaster, the audience eat…

I don't know if the title conveys this all that well, it was just the best I could think of. Does the impossible trigger your depression, or just get you down? I'm talking about more than desire. I'm talking extreme despair. For example I don't want to have to have a sex change. I want a uterus, Fallopian tubes, ovaries, menstruation. You get the idea. The things that a cis woman would have. The closest I can come is GCS. I can have a vagina, but that is where it ends. A lot of the time I talk about going back to being "him". Letting my beard grow, stopping HRT, and just giving up. It's triggering to the point that I'm about to.... I don't want to use the S word, but I kn…

Well, after 9 years of my Mom never wanting to see me, i will be meeting up with her this coming thursday. And I am not looking forward to it. My Mom can't even talk to me about the changes in my life over the phone without breaking down and looking to change the subject. And now she wants to meet. And, it will either be a very good thing, or a complete disaster. Will be glad to get it over with.
