I am still daddy (though I have been both mum and dad for all intents and purposes for large hunks of their existence and am not sure what else I could be called as the kids have a mummy) I am male at work, my friends all call me dude so I guess that counts as using male pronouns, I have come out to two of my four sisters and they still refer to me by my male name, although Dee was chosen by them from a nickname I already get called and I really like it - they have young kids and until I am being open with everyone they cant be trusted to keep secrets like that. Although I was asked at the start I use my male name with my counsellor, although I am thinking of as…

One day I had conversation with my social worker, we have known each other for quite some time as friends, and Laura is aware of my transition. Anyway, during another conversation with her regarding hormone therapy, and her respond is that she feels I'm going against nature, and so I get the impression that Laura is not being supportive.

  3. Larry Young, Ph.D., Brian Alexander Posted 08/21/2012 1:25 pm "Science had clues to this as early as 1916. But it was in 1959 that Charles H. Phoenix and colleagues conducted the keystone experiment. They gave testosterone to pregnant guinea pigs and found that daughters were often born with what human doctors would call "ambiguous genitalia." Their bodies had beenmasculinized. "But Phoenix's animals didn't just look more like males, they acted more male-like, too. They mounted prospective sex partners about as often as males did. The prenatal male hormone had organized their brains in a male-typical pattern. "This gender-specific brain organization is vital. Afte…

I'll bet that most of you have seen the movie "A Soldier's Girl". I just bought the DVD and this is the best love story I have ever seen, bar none. I could not keep from crying to save my life. The ending was so sad. If anyone hasn't seen this movie I highly reccomend it. Note: keep a box of kleenex handy. The next movie that I want to see is "Normal". Have any of you seen it?

I've been outside into the great unknown.... See normally i don't have the guts to venture out in the car when i put women's clothes on.... But last friday i had some problems with my car and eventually it started so i had to go for a drive, i couldn't just put it back where it goes because that would've been worse for it. So, here are some of the photos i took on friday night from my phone, and one from the camera before i went out

As trans people have asked us with louder and louder voices to stop using this word, gay men everywhere are embracing it." --advocate.com Op-ed: What We’ve Failed to Remember With the T Word

"Its odd that bi-sexuality often seems to be shunned by the gay community for example last year I was as [sic] a Pride in Chelmsford and in the entertainments tent I heard at least three of the entertainers refer to bi-sexuals as 'greedy'. I was quite hurt." - Caroline (from the thread "Advice Please" by Melanie) i did not want to derail melanie's thread "Advice Please," so i brought Caroline's comment here to begin a new discussion. GLBT. or, LGBT. seems the first two initials are interchangable depending on whether the speaker is male or female. The last two initials seem always to be in the same place...and as usual, the "T" is usually last tho it has become popula…

  10. Opinion - Not sure if this falls under news, gossip, rumour or information...but I found this after googling Warren Beaty's and Annette Benning's son looking for topics to bring to the forums. Stephen Ira is about as controversial and 'in-your-face' as a person can be. Makes me wonder what his motives are, and will any [possible] future children of his suffer for his radical actions. -Michael Dr. Jody Overland, 03 August 2012 "Warren Beatty and Annette Bening are going to be grandparents courtesy of their transgender son, Stephen Ira. I recently read an article saying soy can indeed produce higher levels of estrogen within men leading to a more curvy body and thinner muscular build when conformed to a heavily soy-dependent diet. Upon further review, I read that OTHER scientists say no, soy has no effect on men estrogen wise in any way noticeable. I was wondering if anyone had any info on this? Id love to find out as Ive only had a few soy products like tofuerky and 'boca burgers' and although never bought them myself, I loved the taste. I'm not one who has the clearance to go about attaining hormones of any type and the idea of growing breasts makes me leery as Im not sure I want ANY like definite …

I was asked by the leader of our bimonthly fellowship if I would like to teach a lesson. I said that I would. I am the only transgender person in the group so this is a welcome opportunity share what it is to be a gender variant individual. Transgender basics about the different expressions of gender and the role transgender people have played in history are a couple of topics that I have in mind. There are probably other topics that could be discussed. I'll have to think about it. I welcome the opportunity to share what it is to be transgender and a cross dresser. I love to share my experiences in hope that others will be encouraged. Gennee :D

Hi folks! I just discovered that TriCare, the non-VA medical insurance for active duty and retired folks, now covers SRS with a twist- they need documentation (read: Psychiatrist and therapist) that the individual has suffered from dysphoria since birth. This is a major, major shift for the military community! Hoorah and cheers.

I first apologise for this long rant of mine and also i maybe unable to clearly articulate the nature of my present dilemma precisely. But nevertheless, i really would clearly appreciate of any insights from you. I have been trying to discuss the question with very many groups, i frequent, both online and in RL. Okay here is a brief outline of my present life, out of gradschool and on the way to job hunting. i have no ffs as of now, but i pass most of the time. I do not make a impressive personality but when strangers meet me , they see me most of the time as a dull, simple uninteresting girl. In short terms, I am comfortable with my present appearance most of t…

Yea, haven't written for a while. Been looking into the medicare provision for my remaining surgery. I find the biggest problem is staying motivated to try. I have been fighting for so long to get this done that I am out of steam. And, one thing I need to find is people that will encourage me to keep going. I get along great with family, but they do not want to hear about the trans stuff. As for friends, well they contact me when they need something. I keep telling myself that I am too old. that even if I get the surgery done, I am too old for a relationship, or to find a real job, or to have a real life. Man, I am so tired of it. Having a life shouldn't be one …

I would like to know how to get a prescription for hormones to transition. I have been giving it a lot of thought processing who I am day after day. I am a woman. It has taken me time to come out to myself, but I except myself for who I am. I am ready to take my first steps to transition and live as I truly am. Can anyone help?

  21. It isn't huge news that former Alabama governor and failed presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is no friend to the LGBT community, but it is curious how he clings to his bigoted ways in the face of widening understanding and acceptance of transgender people. This article titled Huckabee wishes he could've identified as female in high school gym appears on CNN.com. "Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said earlier this year that he wishes he could have Identified as a woman in order to shower with his female classmates after high school gym classes... A CNN reporter asked for his reaction to Caitlyn Jenner's Vanity Fair cover in which the former Olympic champion, and self…

Hi all. I have been in transition for 7 years, and now I am facing having to stop it all. I thought by now, I would have been able to get my hysterectomy surgery, but have never been able to come up with the money. And I am facing the consequences. Not sure how to explain it, but my body is in constant battle. The female hormones...the male hormones...the change of life crap that happens....I am dealing with the worst of the worst. And I am thinking, maybe it's just time to give up on my dream. I am a true transsexual. I knew I was male since I was 4 years old. But, I need to be realistic. There is no way I can ever afford my surgery. Been fighting...trying to …

I just went thru a 6 day v-eeg test to find the cause of : lack of restful sleep, staring spells, involuntary trembling, teeth grinding, and other problems. stress siezures are very real and show normal on e.e.g's they have to be seen happening. The cause of course is stress. our lives as transgenders have potential for some stress. good news, these siezures can stop when the stress level goes down. they can be medically controled. some effects: migrains, ibs, fatique, confussion, memory loss, Some psycoligits are not trained to handle this so one may have to be found. all of this is from my notes during my hospital stay last week. i thought it may be helpful. most …
