http://www.lgbtqnation.com/2012/04/is-gay-a-religion/ I felt this to be very well done. Answering the question in the affirmative raises the next question - "If it is a religion, what about our religious freedom?" I hope I've provoked some deep thinking. Let us know.

Or do they? Transpeople apparently weren't included in the study. Seems to me this study could potentially discredit anyone who identifies as trans. -dml ___________________________ Diane Anderson-Minshall, August 05 2012 2:27 PM ET "...a new study finds that pupil dilation is an accurate indicator of sexual orientation. When people look at erotic images and become aroused, their pupils open up in an unconscious reaction, which gave researchers a much easier way to to study orientation and arousal without traditionally invasive blood flow to the genital measurements. ""So if a man says he's straight, his eyes are dilating towards women," Savin-Williams told Liv…

I’m typing away here right now when I really should be working ... anyways; I’m here because I was curious about a particular thread that seems to have been removed. It was one which was filled with anger and hurt. These are emotions which all of us (I’m looking at it from the male to female perspective) here are familiar with. We all come here to look for a sort of Kinship or pointers on where and what to do next. It’s nice to feel “we’re not alone”. It’s hard however to embrace all that grace these digital pages ... when someone barrels in with "pistols blazin'" it’s not necessarily easy to open arms to hotheadedness. But behind all that anger there is usually an equall…

When our Forums went down last summer, many of the strings on the General TG board were lost, including this one. Having rediscovered it today in a hidden file, I thought I would post it for any newer members who may have missed it the first time around! (Gentlemen-- Although this is written partially with the ladies in mind I would ask that you consider that section from your own perspective) -----------------------ANNIE'S MANTRA------------------------ I offer here my four step process for self improvement. Each succeeding step is harder than the previous-- I won't kid you. I'm still working on #3 and #4 myself! My mantra is this: * BE yours…

I wrote this several years ago, and although I might today "tweak" for redundancies, the message of this essay is still to my mind, relevant. (Gentlemen-- Although this is written partially with the ladies in mind I would ask that you consider that section from your own perspective) I offer here my four step process for self improvement. Each succeeding step is harder than the previous-- I won't kid you. I'm still working on #3 and #4 myself! My mantra is this: * BE yourself * ACCEPT yourself * Be GOOD to yourself * LOVE yourself Seems simple, yes? Well, let's take a closer look at each step... #1-- BE yourself The starting point.…

Four years ago on this date I came out as transgender and a crossdresser. It was a liberating moment which ended the many years of inner turmoil I had about my worth. The last four years have seen much growth and change in me especially on the emotional side. Each year has been different. The first year was invested in getting comfortable in my new identity. The second year saw me throw off the baggage society puts on transgender people's shoulders. The third year was one getting to know other people in the TGLB community and understanding the issues that are important to us. This past year saw a major change in my life. I previously identified as a CD/TG. In June, …

Had my annual physical today, two years since HRT, 1 1/2 years since GRS, it appears as Marci Bowers indicated my prostate would be gone in a short time and it's completely gone as of today. Nice to know a doctor will not have to perform that test on me again.

Visited my dad the other day, and he asked me what my middle initial 'D' stood for. Told him Daniel. He got this big smile on his face and told me that was his grandfathers name. He was very pleased. I told him the reason I chose that middle name is because of it's meaning. 'Only God is my judge.' He was surprised to know that, and I am happy to know that it is also a family name. Awesome!!

I hope i don't annoy anyone by posting all the great things that are coming into my life with my parents. I share them in hopes that it might help others that are on the fence as to hanging onto a relationship, or, letting go. And by all means, if someone is harming you, let them go. In talking to my Mom this morning, she told me, "I feel so blessed to have you in my life." That is something i have been waiting a lifetime to hear. And I am a little overwhelmed. This from a woman that for 9 years, refused to really see me. And for myself, I am so thankful that God gave me the strength to wait her out. Again I do acknowledge that it is a very individual decision..…

For the past ten days or so, I have sensed that a shift in my gender identity has occurred. I can only think and see myself in feminine terms. Even at night lying in bed, my thoughts are continually on the feminine spectrum. For the first time, I felt some discontent as a male. This never happened before. My wife also sees that everything from clothes to general life is in a feminine perspective. This past Sunday I was strolling along the streets enjoying the sights and sounds of the city. I felt an overwhelming contentedness because some situations that I was ill at ease in before didn't phase me. I talk with the public, use public accomodations without fear, and have…

Another step towards becoming the woman I should have been all along. I am going to start seeing a therapist in the next week or so. This is so I can eventually get my letter for SRS. Bobbie Jo

Last night I shared more things about being transgender with my wife. It was a conversation that was coming up because she sees me dressed much more often. I was telling her that many transgender folks have known they were this way as children. I mentioned again my feelings of being different throughout my life. She listened intently as she tried to understand what I was saying. I also shared with her that I can be transgender and Christian. It's my prayer that transgender people will take into account their spiritual condition. I do enjoy having these discussions because it helps her to see what it is to be transgender. Gennee

Helen Belcher of Trans Media Watch highlights institutionalized discrimination in Britain’s National Health Service and media 14 January 2013 | By Helen Belcher " Three of us had spent a couple of months beforehand collating evidence, much of it heart-breaking, lots of it that could never be released into the public domain. The invitation from Lord Justice Leveson came as a real shock, and involved much thinking about whether I should appear behind screens, or with the cameras switched off." --gaystarnews.com Burchill shows anti-trans media attitudes remain See related:

I'm always getting these spam mails, I'm sure you know the ones, "fix your problem down there!" and I can't help but laugh a little and think, really, you can sell me something that will do biological SRS for me?! But it got me to thinking.. is there anything that works the opposite of "blood flow increasers" like viagra? I mean, I guess for some people long term HRT does that. But it'd be handy to have something you could take for a day to make sure you don't have any uncomfortable reactions down there for whatever reason... I guess if all else fails there's the old standby, imagining my parents in bed

Hello everyone here. I just had a question I had to get off my chest. Has anybody here ever woke up in the morning with anxiety or even high levels of anxiety? I had that happen to me over the weekend. They were gender related. Its like when I wake up every morning I am having a battle within myself. I have periods of denial and frustration. A piece of me denies being trans and fights to be male for the sake of being normal. But the real me always battles that side to myself. Its a real crappy way to start the morning. I just want to know has anybody have or use to go through this? If so how did you manage? Thank you for your input everyone. Love you all.

Ok , I set upon the presipus of despair , what is it that frightens me so , why must this anxiety constantly appear at the most ubscure times , depression constantly trails close behind , I often wonder what draws us all into these sort of problems , especially when we live , dress , and for the better part of this life feel some what ok that day , and then for what appears to be no reason ( BAMM ) the fears of old drag us back into fear the Elephant returns to its place upon our chests , and the depressing thoughts we believed we had finally driven out of our lives returns in force , possibly no were as elevated as before but there it is none the less . Dragging its dark…

I am looking for information about having bones that match the gender you identify with and not your birth sex. I am a 40 year old born male transgender person. I am waiting to see the endocrinologist for HRT still. I have always felt like my body looked feminine but later in puberty my chest deepened more masculine. When I was first near puberty my pelvis grew wider as I used to walk into door frames for a time and had bruises on both sides where the pelvic crest sticks out. Recently I had a CT scan done to check for kidney stones. I got the copy of the scan and used a 3D program to look at my bones. I have asked a doctor to look at the images and have asked on a biology…

I’m going to make this as short and sweet as I can. Is anyone else afraid for their lives or the lives of those they love? In today’s political climate, things have gotten so out of control that I’m worried about what I, or more importantly Adrianne could face when we’re out. I can handle myself well, and travel armed. Adrianne doesn’t arm herself in any way. But transgender people, and those who support them, are under fire today. I’m not so much worried about myself. If something happens to me, it happens. If something happens to Adrianne, the world be set ablaze. I would never forgive myself if anything happened to her. I can’t lock her up or anything like that. I…

Hi all. I am a transman living in a small community. Ever since I came out..4 years ago...I have lived in isolation. My family has let me go...and friends have let me go. I am tired of living in isolation. I am tired of dealing with the discrimination I get in the workplace and with my neighbors. I could use some support amd contacts. And it seems like every support group I have talked to....no one else is dealing with this 'outcast...isolation' stuff. If anyone can relate I would appreciate hearing from you.

I am 17, and as I become more comfortable with the fact that I am trans, and that I really am a girl I find myself more and more forgetting as of now that I'm a guy. Like today I was looking at a prom magazine that was in the house of the girl that I'm taking to prom, and I'm looking through the dresses actually thinking about which ones I would wanna buy and which dresses would like nice on me...then I remembered oh yeah, for now, for all intents and purposes I'm a guy...

Hiya all As I've said in the 'description', I'm posting this after reading the 'feel like a woman not attracted to men' thread... I'm not really attracted to men either... until I start thinking of myself as a fully transitioned woman... Has anyoe else experienced this 'swotch of attraction'? Or think this would happen if they did transistion if they have not... I have more to say on the subject that sort of explains more how I feel, but I'd like t see other peoples viws first before saying more

As always, we are looking for Transgender hangout places, trying to find a place Nikki can go out, relax, maybe make some irl friends like him. We're in a reasonable distance to Dayton, which is the biggest city near us and more likely to have things than our tiny new town.
