General Transgender Discussion

I'm going to get a new doctor soon (because I'm 18 now) and I plan on asking him to refer me to a therapist.I was wondering if anyone could give me at time line of what to expect, like how long before i start hormones and when i do start them what to expect in the first year.I was also wondering if since my mom is a 40D cup size(the women in my family are well endowed) and I'm less then a decade past puberty will i have decent sized breast? Oh, and i plan on dressing as a boy for as long as possible exactly when does it become noticeable?

So here is what has been going on with me lately. I have decided to make some positive life changes and I am taking charge of my life staring in 2012. First on the list is a move to Phoenix and getting involved with some of the programs that will help me with my transition into womanhood. That article that I had posted about H.O.P.E. House had me intrigued and I checked into it some more and made the decision to go down there and start my life over and go solo for the first time in 15 years. I am just abit curious, open for all those concerned......I was five when I awoke to the realization that I wasn't me, at what point in your life had you realized that your body was not your own.....did it hit you all of a sudden or was it gradual..Did you awake in a cold sweat or just a calm over took you... did you get the preverbial light pop up over you and you just knew....and at that time was your name realized or did you have to find it hiding within you... Hello everyone. It's been along time since I wrote here,glad to see Iam still registered. In eary June of this year I had a stroke that has not left me paralyzed or impaired to a graet extent, thank God for that. My endrologist took me off of the estogen pills and placed me on the patch, which I am now on and also put me on cholesterole lowering medication. Has anyone had to deal with a situation like this? Some major life changes have occurred, like eating habits, more excercise, NO alcohol, ect. What can I expect from this and although no one can give a medical opinion, I'd like to know what people think. Jolene.

I am a bit dumbfounded by it all. I mean the labels we use to describe ourselves: TS, TV, TG, CD, trans, genderqueer, etc. The nice young doctor asked me what I described myself as. Would I call myself a transvestite? No, I said, I am seeking a referral to an expert to find out what I am. If you need a description, transgender will do, I said. And that is why I post in this section of these boards, rather than in the cross-dresser section, or the transsexual section. Whilst I recognise the cross-dresser and the transsexual in me, I don't feel I am wholly one or the other.

I have been in such a low place lately. My depression meds don't seem to be working. I haven't even wanted to shave my chest or armpits or legs. Which I normally do. I have been called out before on pieces of clothes I wear. But that does not really bother me. What bothers me the most is the looks people who don't understand give me. Hi everyone, I am really getting upset with my doctor in Los Angeles. He doesn't prescribe hormones. He charges $65 for an injection of estradiol+progesterone that he claims last a month. He charges another $70 for a 10 minutes consultation if I have questions. he said is not necessary to measure the levels of hormones to find out the right dose. I am just confuse about if I am going to the right doctor. I feel like I am getting rip off and not getting anywhere. I wonder if i would be better off just going to a regular endocrinologist.

For years I have been an advocate in my state. Looking to change DMV policy in regards to gender markers. Recently working with a trans group to get Medicare to pay for surgeries for trans people. And I am thinking it might be time for me to separate myself from all this. Even though there is a trans support group in my state, it is just a ghost group. they ask for someone to fight the fight, but never give support. Especially for those of us that insurance won't cover that cost? I just picked up my monthly prescription today. I have paid the same amount for 6 years, until now. The monthly increase....$20.00.
