Coming out is a very personal matter. It's telling the world that this is who I am. I am mindful that my coming out process came several weeks after discovering that I was a crossdresser. When I did accept myself all of the stress in my life dissipated. It took over a week that I had gone over a divide that I never imagined that I would cross. I have concluded that coming out is not a one time event. It's happened to me a number of times. I proceeded from a crossdresser to transgenderist to transgender. At the present time I am experiencing another shift in my identity, moving closer to identifying as fully feminine. This is after a long period of relative calm. Wha…

As always, we are looking for Transgender hangout places, trying to find a place Nikki can go out, relax, maybe make some irl friends like him. We're in a reasonable distance to Dayton, which is the biggest city near us and more likely to have things than our tiny new town.

Hi everyone, I recently started volunteering at Identity House - a volunteer group in NYC that provides peer counseling, support groups, and therapy referrals for LGBT people - and a term has been used in various settings there that I wanted to ask people here about. Specifically, people will use the term "person of trans experience" - I wanted to see if others had heard that term, and what you think of it? Personally, I'm not a fan, it irks me as much as "transgendered" (it's not something that happened to me! It's who I am!!). The way I often respond is to ask people to consider the same construction for lesbian or gay people and see how it sounds - so "person of gay ex…

I’m falling back into hopelessness when I think about transitioning. I can get electrolysis. I’m going under the needle Tuesday. But when I think about everything else, reality hits so hard I think I’m gonna puke. I’ll never be able to fully transition and get a female body. I could never afford it. I went for an analysis of my hairline and to bring it forward to refill my receding hairline, it would cost $14k. I don’t have that kind of money. And I never will. Then there’s things like breast augmentation, FFS, and a vaginoplasty. I’ll never be able to afford any of those procedures. I have a GoFundMe that has been up for a long time, and so far only $40 has been donated.…

I don't know if this is a big problem for other trans people, but at work, whyrrr I'm out, People In the back room crew where I work are constantly poking at my feminine tendencies. I was in a great mood today until they decided to say that because I really liked this greeting card we processed because it had googly eyes.... They also poked fun at yjr fact that I really liked a photo album that said be yourself. I kind of flipped on them today because of it and I said "if someone who was born biologically male did any of this you wouldn't question them but you have to belittle me at every turn."

While out with a transgender friend accompanied a cisgender female, transgender admirer who I must say is gorgeous we started talking about being misgendered. My friend mentioned there were a few times she was misgendered which I would only think she would because of her body structure, something you really can hide if you have decent muscles or inherently masculine bone structure. I reminded my friend of me in regards to being misgendered and her cisgender friend spoke up and said, I could never imagine you being misgendered which is always good to hear. I think part of this is not only facial features and voice which are the two things that are giveaways (and eyebrows a…

Why Most Transitioned People Don't Carry The Transgender Torch Where is it written that someone who has transitioned MUST help the (transgender) community?” asks reader Karyn Maynard in response to someone else on the comments board of a GLAAD post about Dawn Ennis. Karyn makes a good point, and the fact of the matter is, most people who transition move on from trans issues. They don’t actually see themselves as transgender people, even if they embraced the cause of “transgenderism” at some point in their journey. But they don’t live between the gender binary as so many transgender people happily do: the transitioned MtF person IS a female, and the FtM person IS a m…

This seems to be percolating through news feeds lately. It’s dated 10/3/17 and the comments suggest something about tech times target audience. http://www.techtimes.com/articles/213993/20171003/sex-change-regret-growing-number-of-transgenders-wants-gender-reversal-surgery.htm And here is an older article updated in 2016 counters the impression the tech times article suggests. It is less inflammatory, as well as better researched and considered. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/brynn-tannehill/myths-about-transition-regrets_b_6160626.html I’m offering these as a heads up to expect some discussion on the subject. And I think anyone who's tripped over the first article sho…

People born with gender dysphoria have a physical difference between the sex of their brain and their natal sex so with this knowledge why are gender dysphoric people not classed as intersex when it is a scientific fact.

I first apologise for this long rant of mine and also i maybe unable to clearly articulate the nature of my present dilemma precisely. But nevertheless, i really would clearly appreciate of any insights from you. I have been trying to discuss the question with very many groups, i frequent, both online and in RL. Okay here is a brief outline of my present life, out of gradschool and on the way to job hunting. i have no ffs as of now, but i pass most of the time. I do not make a impressive personality but when strangers meet me , they see me most of the time as a dull, simple uninteresting girl. In short terms, I am comfortable with my present appearance most of t…

I was reading through some of my old posts, and some other responses from members before I came here, and noticed something. A lot of people come here, and claim that we're wrong. That what's between our legs is it, and there is no other option for us. Some are seeking to learn, but most are not. They are close minded and don't believe in anything other than the binary definition of gender. Penis=man vagina=woman. No other options, no changing it. That's not right, as we all know. They would ask things like "So if I identify as a socket wrench, that makes me a socket wrench?" Ok, if you want to act like an idiot and be insulting I can do the same back to you. To correct y…

From a spiritual perspective, as a trans sexual woman, I am intrigued by the shamanic tradition in indigenious people of two spirit individuals. In some tribes we are considered blessed with the connection to both genders. We are considered healers and the receipients of the tribes shamanic traditions for healing and spiritual quests. Does anyone else see the transsexual experience in this positive light? Does anyone have sources of information about this topic

Courtney O'Donnell, 09/04/2012 4:51pm "With incorrect, offensive, or downright transphobic phrases like "man in a dress," "male-to-female transsexual," "he calls himself Brandi," or, likely the most offensive of them all, "he-she," mainstream media simply cannot get it right. Sometimes it's deliberate, especially in tabloids and other media that use exploitation to generate revenue. In other instances ignorance prevails in the media by those who ought to know better." I've been living as myself, a woman for over four years now, post-op for over three ... I am who I always wanted to be, a strong woman working in my chosen field as an artist and have appreciated a full life. We (my partner and I) moved a year and a half ago to a fairly small town an hour or so from Toronto Canada ... recently a non-eventful visit to my (now not so) new Dentist required that a treatment be submitted to my insurance company, a fairly normal thing. Keep in mind now my legal name was changed some four years ago and after several visits to a couple different (because of moving) Dentists per year for check-ups and cleanings have caused no problems as my name h…

Has anyone noticed that more and more, reports on transpeople are referring to us as simply "transgender(s)?" "A transgender was seen walking..." "A transgender has decided to run for office in..." "A transgender sues former employer for..." "Transgenders gathered to support...." It's beginning to feel like we aren't even being considered human, like a "transgender" is some sort of species. It seems the habit is even more prevalent in Asian countries. I've never liked the word anyway. I've just tried to be politically correct, and tolerate it...especially in light of the fact that it's also been used by some post-op transpeople to lord over those who a…

http://www.lgbtqnation.com/2012/04/is-gay-a-religion/ I felt this to be very well done. Answering the question in the affirmative raises the next question - "If it is a religion, what about our religious freedom?" I hope I've provoked some deep thinking. Let us know.

Hi, I am a 22-year-old transman. I am planning to undergo top surgery in a couple of weeks. I had started on testosterone last year and have been doing pretty good. I would like to know how I need to prepare for the surgery and the things I need to be careful about. How long will I take to recover fully and when can I get back to my normal life? Waiting for your replies.

Last Thursday evening my wife accepted me as a transgender person. It happened at a meeting at church. We are part of a task force that is creating and LGBTQI ministry which will kick off in June. Each person shared the their story and reasons for being there. When it was Louise's turn she shared her acceptance of me as a transgender woman. I was thrilled to say the least. It was also something that I prayed for. The following night I revealed my feminine name to her. I sensed that she was ready and my hunch proved to be correct. Louise read an article that I had written for an online magazine. She liked the article very much. Her acceptance means so much. There a…
