And other helpful tips. Not from "him" or "her," but from "them." You'd be surprised how many people ask me about my crotch. It's a lot. I have had people ask me which "parts" I have, how they look, what I plan to do with them. I don't run around with a sign that says "ask me about my crotch," but as soon as I bring up my gender identity to certain people, all of a sudden it appears on the discussion table like a highly inappropriate Seamless order. Yes, even in New York. Yes, even among seemingly "progressive" people. And it stems from the fact that most people you meet simply do not know much about non-binary gender identities. It usually goes like this: "So you don't …

When our Forums went down last summer, many of the strings on the General TG board were lost, including this one. Having rediscovered it today in a hidden file, I thought I would post it for any newer members who may have missed it the first time around! (Gentlemen-- Although this is written partially with the ladies in mind I would ask that you consider that section from your own perspective) -----------------------ANNIE'S MANTRA------------------------ I offer here my four step process for self improvement. Each succeeding step is harder than the previous-- I won't kid you. I'm still working on #3 and #4 myself! My mantra is this: * BE yours…

People here are always saying how badly transsexuals are portrayed on TV, but I don't think that's true at all...Last night I watched an episode of "The Jeffersons" where George meets up with his old navy buddy Eddie...only Eddie turned into Edie and became a woman...They got a really gorgeous, really feminine woman to play Edie and transsexualism was portrayed in a really nice way. Also, there's an episode of Just Shoot Me with a similar plot, where Finch meets up with his old guy friend who had a sex change played by Jenny McCarthey. And then he has sex with her in the end I think. And on Veronica Mars there was an episode where she helps a boy discover that his f…

I wrote about a year and a half ago about having painful cramps in my leg one night, wondering afterward if taking estrogen or spironolactone may have caused the cramps. I contacted the physician who has and is prescribing female hormones, spironlactone and finasteride for me to ask him if taking any of them could cause leg cramps. He said probably not and suggested I take a magnesium supplement, which I have been, later discovering magnesium supplements are worthwhile for several reasons in helping to promote proper health. Later I realized I had had the painful leg cramps only about a day after returning home on a long plane ride. I know people need to be careful on …

I was reading posts on Reddit and came across this response: "So, the actual definition of biological sex is by the type of gametes you produce for your species, not by chromosomes. So there are at most 4 biological sexes: produce smaller gametes (male) produce larger gametes (female) produce both gametes (hermaphroditic) produce no gametes (nonsexual) This is the definition of sex across all sexual species, which is why there are things like "male seahorses give birth" (they have the smaller gametes; the larger gametes are injected into them by the female, who could be said to …

After a cursory search of the board, did not find anything addressing this issue -- if the women of one's family often get breast cancer, does that mean a mtf on hormones will also have a significantly greater chance of breast cancer as well? Is anyone aware of someone who transitioned and later developed (breast) cancer? MIWBJ

Hi everyone. It has been a long time since I have posted here. As of tuesday my legal name change has been printed in a newpaper. I was almost moved to tears. Now I await my affidavit so that I may change my social security, I.D and all other documents. Also I am in grooming academy to become a petstylis. Everything is going well and I love how things are going. I have been full time since January, my name change is almost complete and I am embarking upon my first career. I feel so lucky and accomplished. Thank you all for listening. -Nikki

As many of you know, I have been transitioning for years. So, I write this with joy and also embarrassment, that it took me this many years to get here. As I mentioned in the ftm forum, over my vacation time, I let my beard grow. I came close to shaving it off before going back to work. That fear of what will people say and always trying to just be invisible. Well I kept the beard. And glad I did. I realized that yes, people might talk about me behind my back....So What??? From what I hear they already do. 1 or 2 might say something belittling to my face, So What? That's just 1 or 2 people I do not need in my life. having the courage to finally be me, do what I…

Yesterday I used my male voice to answer a question to my best female friend and she physically shuttered and said never do that ever again. I've had no voice training but have developed a decent female voice that is not difficult to keep it up and have been doing this for a while now. I will say it was hard to get the male voice going yesterday which surprised me. So that brings me to a question, how many here have been working on their female voice and what success rate do you have with it?

Society continues to mislead impressionable girls (and boys) by implying that hair, except that which is on the head, and perhaps a well-groomed strand or two below the belt, does not exist or should not exist on women - only men have body hair. And if a woman finds hair on her body, she must eliminate it or hide it from public view until she can do so in order to avoid judgement and embarassment. Is this commercial teaching people that if a woman has [facial] hair, she's not a woman? Pay attention to the part of the video between 18 to 24 seconds. Besides warping peoples' understanding of what's natural, could this also eventually trickle down to what people think…

i think my emotions might be getting the best of me today. got into an arguement over a video of a kid who got upset cause his parents pranked him with coal. i expressed that it was a mean prank to do on christmas and then i get mocked and made fun of because i genuinely believe that kids can get their feelings hurt being pranked like that on such a special day. i felt what the kid was feeling in the video because i have been through that mean joke myself. was i wrong to feel the way i did and side with the kid and his feelings? below is how the whole video went down... the kid runs into the living room and heads towards the stocking. his mother asked what did you get.…

It was 2 years ago I made the biggest decision in my life, live and dress as female fulltime.Since the age of 6,I always felt feminine mostly.I was adopted and my mom that adopted me watched me go through her shoe and hosiery. There were times she did put make up on me.It was the crossdressing at first. Then 2 years ago, things did change and my wife noticed it at first. Finally we did sit down and talk telling her I wanted to live and dress as female fulltime. Was amazed she decided to stay married to me,said she always liked the femme side of me more and always wanted a femme husband. Our relationship is a lot better since this happened. We have an 18 year old daughter together…

I came across this article yesterday and found it so interesting, especially the graphical representations of gender identity, the spectrums within them, and social norms. Very interesting and informative: The Biochemical Nature of Gender Identity For example, there's this graph: I'm certain that I'm on the femme side of the feminine stereotype but not to the hyperfemme extreme. But isn't it cool the way that the graph also illustrates the transgender umbrella? I've met cis men who just need to get their femme on from time to time. Many cis lesbian women present to the right of the stereotypical line, and they are adamant that butch lesbian women are not "…

As people who are often considered WAY OUTSIDE normal society (whatever normal is), a lot of us find ourselves rejected by the places of worship in which we grew up. I personally was kicked out of 3 different churches. And yet, as spiritual beings having a human experience, we have an inherent need to connect with others, as well as our concept of a Higher Power, at a deeply spiritual level. Cut off from our original source, we have to find new ways to feed our souls. Personally, I have managed to become a part of new communities where I can get real, share, listen, laugh, cry and ultimately grow. Some of these spiritual circles focus on a particular spiritual path, ot…
