Loren Cameron is an award-winning literary figure and photographer who was invited by the University of Minnesota-Du to present a collection entitled 'Transgender Images' and was provided with a $4,000 honorarium. Mr Camerons exhibit documents his own personal journey and his work has been shown at Universities around the world. However, Critics have described the event as potentially 'offensive' and have suggested there is a better way to spend the money and that it's not the best use of taxpayers resources. Ken Williams - SDGLN Editor in Chief, September 18th, 2012 "Before I made the decision that transitioning was in fact the right thing for me and before I came out to everyone for the second time in life, I became consumed with YouTube. I watched countless videos of other transgender men and was fascinated with their stories, changes on hormone replacement therapy, their top surgery results and just how insightful some of their videos were. YouTube has helped me a lot." -Lewis, sdgln.com Beck Rosato Lewis: My amazing journey from tomboy to butch lesbian to trans man

Spent most of the afternoon with my Dad. Feels so great to again have that father - son relationship. My Dad always treated me as his son until puberty hit. Then, it was all down hill. I could'nt stand being around him. In the past couple months, that has all changed. I have my Dad back. Feels great to be out in public and hear my Dad say, " This is my son." I now, again, really enjoy being with my Dad. It was comical when I left him this afternoon. He reached out to shake my hand. I shook his hand, and then gave him a hug. Told him, "hey fathers and sons do hug." I am so thankful that God has restored to me...that relationship. It's the greatest feeling in …

First off I Must say that being trans for ME was Not about a sex change or being manly. I do not drink beer, watch sports, or drive a truck. I don't even drive. When I was told by the gender "specialist" that in order to get on my testosterone I would need to engage in a MAN ONLY activity in public in my chosen gender role. So I went to a Gay Bar and hit on cute boys! I stole someones boyfriend and snogged em in the stairwell! Then I started hanging out with this super sexy drag queen and we became bffls! I did her hair and makeup, and outfits so long that I wanted to join in! No one knew I was born female and they were drag queens! Eventually I came out to …

Diane Anderson-Minshall, August 02 2012 5:00 AM ET "Although 20th-century scholars have labeled Lobdell a lesbian, the author, while incorporating queer theory and Lobdell’s own writings, makes a fascinating argument in A Strange Sort of Being: The Transgender Life of Lucy Ann/Joseph Israel Lobdell, 1829-1912 that there never was a “female hunter” but really a transgender man who would eventually be locked away from society and his beloved for insisting on being a man." -advocate.com The Real Story of the Female Hunter of Delaware County __________________________________________________________________ There is mention in this piece that feminists declared J…

My guy name is Oliver (over Facebook) or Joe, or Alex, or Ky, I haven't decided what I would call myself. I haven't posted in a while, so I'll just put an update. I knew when I was about 3 or 4, which led to cutting my hair super short. I kept it to myself, because I didn't know what people would say and I was really scared. I kept that up until 10th grade (15 years old), when I told two friends. One of them took it completely fine, but the other one wanted to retalk about it with her (the one that understood) and she later told me that the girl said that I was a freak. So that kind of turned it off for telling people, which none of my family knew yet. I finally …

Justin McCoy, Posted: 07/16/2012 2:45 pm "Since the age of 5 years old, I have lived with my Republican grandparents, making my self-discovery process a little difficult. For as long as I can remember, I attended a Lutheran church with my grandparents in Mission Viejo, Calif. They have a strong youth program and at one point had a youth choir that would travel around on tour. I was part of the choir for several years before my sexuality became an issue." -McCoy, huffingtonpost.com Who Am I, Really?

The story is old, but it's another reflection of the trials transpeople face. A Lawsuit’s Unusual Question: Who Is a Man? By RICHARD PÉREZ-PEÑA Published: April 10, 2011 "In its January filing, Urban Treatment said that firing Mr. Devoureau was legitimate, “since the sex of the employee engaged in that particular job position is a bona fide occupational qualification” — implying that Mr. Devoureau was not really a man. " -nytimes.com A businessmanagementdaily.com article in June 2011 alluded to Devoureau's former manager having possibly "violated the ADA and the NJLAD when she asked if Devoureau has undergone surgery." And in a .pdf copy of the suit filed in C…

I spoke to my biological father recently (after not talking to him for 8 years or so), as a favor to my sister. Well, in short, it didnt go well. It was like I didnt even know the man on the other end of the line. Then to top it all off, he kept saying he knew me. That he wanted to help me. I gave him the benefit of the doubt as i had growing up (to his reasons why he was never around), anyway, he went on trying to explain to me whats really wrong with me. As it turns out, even after both my sister and I explained Transgender to him, he has it in his mind that I have a multiple personality. He thinks that my new name (Alex) is my male personality, and that my female name …

I haven't posted here for a while. Been transitioning since 2003. It's been a tough road...transitioning in the same place , same job, family and friend opposition. But, today, I feel like the end is in sight. Talked to my Dad today. A person that has never accepted my transition. And, in our conversation, my dad said, "I wish i could be the man you are. You are a good man." Wow.. I can't even put into words how great that feels. Been a long time waiting for. Guess I just wanted to share this to let all of you know.....no matter how long it takes....never give up on being you!

Okay, So i have a whole bunch of questions that I'd just love to be answered in some way. Is 21 a logical age for me to decide wether or not im ready to start fully transitioning? How in the world will I go about finding a name? Like, I asked my dad what he would have named me and everyone calls me "Vic" right now, but he hasn't told me what he wouldve named me if i was born a male. How do I go about egttinga binder for a large chest? I got 2 binders from underworks and both of them within like 2 months wore down on me! I'm a DD chest and honestlyr ight now im trying my hardest to present as male and it just doesn't work when I have such a large, annoying chest. I have…
