Yesterday , history was made in Richmond Virginia my my son and I at the Valentine Museum , er History Center . Our WONDERFUL photographer , Mr. Michael Simon was on hand to record this memorable event digitally . Also on hand Megan and Dominick , both Valentine curators . as witnesses . I love sharing history as I was born in Richmond and giving insight as to the burgeoning Transgender movement that I saw gain momentum when ms Christine Jorgensen spoke that warm May night at the old VCU Franklin st gym . I was a news reporter/ announcer at W J R B , the VCU radio station then . Yes, I moved away to California , then Texas , only to return again . Here , I saw the birth …

  2. I am a 32 year old cissexual female and have been with my trans (mtf) partner for several years. When I met her she had been on estrogen (patches) for nearly 4 years and was living as a woman full-time. After deciding we wanted to try and start a biological family together, she made the difficult decision to come off hormones in an attempt to regain her fertility. Appallingly, she hadn’t been offered any proper or feasible support with regards to banking sperm and the discussion was briskly over-looked by doctors, so coming off hormones was the only option. We are now doting, proud parents to a beautiful, healthy girl. Our daughter took a year and a half to conceive a…

This was shared to me on my Facebook by a good friend of mine . She often sends me these links as a "Teaching tool " As I am a Suicide prevention councilor and a M2F group owner : http://transgenderuniverse.com/2016/08/08/dealing-with-the-fallout-when-your-transition-goes-nuclear/

  4. Hello one and all, To many here I am old hat, simply bern away and missed, I am sure newer members have read a few of my posts, I have been away yet watching from my distant place. I would like for you all to take a look around and with open eyes see what surrounds us these days, are you seeing the troubling things I see or do you grasp onto and incorporate into your lives the troubling things that those of us strove to achieve yet see fading back into the past, I come from a generation who realised that pounding on desks and ordering others into submision was not going to work. We settled back for the long haul understanding those old nazi like tactics were working agai…

  5. I found this yesterday on Medium and greatly appreciated such a thorough guide to what is known about transgender, those who argue with our validity, and sensitive and constructive advice for supporting children experiencing gender dysphoria or incongruence. "[This piece] is intended to be a step-by-step guide for anyone interested, one that fills in all the holes, reads between the lines, and unpacks the many assumptions that riddle the typical op-ed or think-piece about transgender children." "I will also provide necessary background regarding gender transition in adults before addressing the more controversial topic of transgender children." Detransition, Desistance, a…

  6. I have been researching foods to help enhance breast tissue, and some say it helps, others , not so much.. I already have a significant mass there from weightlifting when young, and at 54 years young now.. I am not very interested in hormones, but believe strongly in.. "we are what we eat"... I have been incorporating some of these items listed on this website I included below, and I think I have seen a little bit of development. Maybe it is just wishful thinking, I don't know. I just wanted to get feedback from others here. What they have done, what the results were, and what works the best. Thanks. http://malebreastenlargement101.com/male-breast-enlargement-herbs/

If this isn't in the right section, let me know and I'll post in the right place. I have a couple of questions which are aimed at transsexual women who are transitioning or have already transitioned and have children that are still in school and I'm asking because that's the position I'm in and I'm really concerned about going 'full-time' and making all the required social changes because of how it may affect my almost 4 year old daughter. It's likely that going full force with my transition is gonna end up with the mother of my daughter stopping access which I will of course be fighting if it gets that far with her. The questions: -How have other children been with your …

  11. I am a cis gendered straight white male. Currently, my oldest friend is working on her (I think she still uses female pronouns, that's in flux) journey. She's had a lot of turmoil on a lot of other fronts, and I don't envy her the path that brought her to today. When she told me her orientation was basically asexual, I really didn't care. It mattered not a whit, mostly because there's never really been any matter of sexuality between us, but also because I've never really understood why sexual orientation was such a big deal in the first place. Later, when she told me she was considering having her breasts removed, in large part I was happy for her, as they get in her way…

  12. Regaining sense of community control Hello everybody! It's been a while since back logging on to tgguide community forums! I had two reasons for not logging on regular basis! Firstly I lost access to my tablet due to battery failure and I just bought it on new year's! Secondly I thought I was the only transgender person in mega city as I reside in! But after my 4 years of hardcore transitions on or off, I have found a exact replica of my cross dressers to transgender community meeting every Monday in my area of residence! I hope to promote my YouTube channel for all members of transgender community not only cross dressers! Few that's a big scope. Visit Shazy Jeo on Y…

It's probably the most common and challenging questions we ask ourselves. I know I do, over and over. Recounting all those past feelings, thoughts, and experiences to answer yet again, yes. I must be. I've had it confirmed by my mental health therapist, gender therapist, and so many other lay people. I recently came across this well-written post that I need to tattoo into my consciousness: from Natalie Reed, The Null HypotheCis Here's another post from her that came after the Null Hypothesis, and is equally excellent: How Do I Know If I’m Trans? The bottom line(s): - There are no "binaries" or certainties in transgender any more than there are for cisgender; - Most…

Hi everyone, I recently started volunteering at Identity House - a volunteer group in NYC that provides peer counseling, support groups, and therapy referrals for LGBT people - and a term has been used in various settings there that I wanted to ask people here about. Specifically, people will use the term "person of trans experience" - I wanted to see if others had heard that term, and what you think of it? Personally, I'm not a fan, it irks me as much as "transgendered" (it's not something that happened to me! It's who I am!!). The way I often respond is to ask people to consider the same construction for lesbian or gay people and see how it sounds - so "person of gay ex…

  16. I am getting ready to start HRT. I want to get the facial feminization and breast augmentation done as soon as possible. I know for a few months my nipples will be sore due to my breasts growing. I know I have to be on HRT for a year and living the role for a year in order to have gender reassignment surgery. I would like to get the other surgeries done over the summer... Is that too soon or impossible? Thanks for any help you can provide...

For quite some time, everyone who feels the need to number us, claims that there are only 700,000 transgender people in the US. That number has been bandied about so much, that even some trans people have begun to use that figure. I've always thought that was a crock of crap. And it angers me more each time I see it, 'cause in the back of my mind, I can't help but believe that the part of the nation hell-bent on keeping us grovelling in the gutter have got to be thinking, "so what, there's only 700,000 of ya's." I just finished reading the article The faces of transgender teen America. According to that article, "among the documented 1.6 million homeless youth across …

  19. And other helpful tips. Not from "him" or "her," but from "them." You'd be surprised how many people ask me about my crotch. It's a lot. I have had people ask me which "parts" I have, how they look, what I plan to do with them. I don't run around with a sign that says "ask me about my crotch," but as soon as I bring up my gender identity to certain people, all of a sudden it appears on the discussion table like a highly inappropriate Seamless order. Yes, even in New York. Yes, even among seemingly "progressive" people. And it stems from the fact that most people you meet simply do not know much about non-binary gender identities. It usually goes like this: "So you don't …

Transgender people: 10 common myths Edited by German Lopez Mar 25, 2016, 12:00p "The most pervasive myth about transgender people — and the one myth that underpins much of the discrimination they face — is that they're somehow confused or actively misleading others by identifying with a gender different from the one assigned to them at birth." -vox.com

  22. Updated March 24, 20169:04 AM ETPublished March 23, 201610:21 AM ETTARA HAELLE Experiencing the world as a different gender than the one assigned to you at birth can take a toll. Nearly all research into transgender individuals' mental health shows poorer outcomes. A new study looking specifically at transgender women, predominantly women of color, only further confirms that reality. What's less clear, however, is whether trans individuals experience more mental distress due to external factors, such as discrimination and lack of support, or internal factors, such as gender dysphoria, the tension resulting from having a gender identity that differs from the one assigned a…
