Last night I discussed transgender and Christianity with my bible fellowship group. It was an overwhelming success. There were many questions asked and I was able to answer them to the best of my knowledge. I opened up the discussion defining the many transgender terms. I explained that 'transgender' is an umbrella term for people whose gender identity and/or expression differs from their birth sex. I mentioned that the term may include transsexuals, crossdressers, gender queer, gender non-conforming and other gender-variant people. I had the most questions about transition and Gender Identity Disorder. I explained that transitioning is a complex prcedure that occu…

Hi, I am a transman I am working in a car loan company and started my testosterone last year. I am planning to take the next step and undergo a top surgery procedure to remove my breasts. And I need to find a good cosmetic surgeon for this. Can anyone help me with finding good cosmetic surgeons?

  4. Hi. I don't know where to post this since I'm new here but here goes. Iv been wearing a bra for about three or four weeks now and it feels weird not wearing one now, like I'm exposed or something. It defiantly got me thinking, because I thought something was at lest somewhat screwy around senior year of high school (2/3 years ago). Since then Iv gone back and forth between non-binary, mtf, or just ... Idk. I tried estrogen but when my folks questioned me about it I got cold feet and stooped. I have always been interested in girls but have never wanted to be the "guy" in a relationship, it just feels weird. Iv even fantasized about being different female characters fr…

After a cursory search of the board, did not find anything addressing this issue -- if the women of one's family often get breast cancer, does that mean a mtf on hormones will also have a significantly greater chance of breast cancer as well? Is anyone aware of someone who transitioned and later developed (breast) cancer? MIWBJ

As many of you know, I have been transitioning for years. So, I write this with joy and also embarrassment, that it took me this many years to get here. As I mentioned in the ftm forum, over my vacation time, I let my beard grow. I came close to shaving it off before going back to work. That fear of what will people say and always trying to just be invisible. Well I kept the beard. And glad I did. I realized that yes, people might talk about me behind my back....So What??? From what I hear they already do. 1 or 2 might say something belittling to my face, So What? That's just 1 or 2 people I do not need in my life. having the courage to finally be me, do what I…

  8. I came across this article yesterday and found it so interesting, especially the graphical representations of gender identity, the spectrums within them, and social norms. Very interesting and informative: The Biochemical Nature of Gender Identity For example, there's this graph: I'm certain that I'm on the femme side of the feminine stereotype but not to the hyperfemme extreme. But isn't it cool the way that the graph also illustrates the transgender umbrella? I've met cis men who just need to get their femme on from time to time. Many cis lesbian women present to the right of the stereotypical line, and they are adamant that butch lesbian women are not "…

  9. Trans sexualization; Trans medicalization LGBT Weekly "Christine Jorgensen preferred the term transgender: they perceived transgender as taking the “sex” out of “transsexual” – an effort to desexualize the sexualized perception of transsexual people. Sexualized perceptions of trans women are persistent. Back in 2009, theWashington, D.C. Examiner reported:..." This is a very interesting article about transgender terminology. I know there has been some debate about terminology in our own forums. Using terms to define our population is a slippery slope to be sure. I personally don't mind -- in fact I prefer, the term transgender, if we must use terms at all. Our other…

I've not posted much on the boards lately as life is getting busier all the time. My partner is working extra on weekends so I'm filling the 'housewife' role alot the past few weeks. Maybe I ought to get a French Maid outfit?? Work certainly isn't giving up on its' time demands either. So, with that said, while I'm not contributing much, visiting this message board is a good life-line from the near meaningless rat-race. Thank You all for being wondeful people. MIWBJ p.s., I'm hoping after the holidays things will slow down enough to participate more again. I even found the digital camera and hope to post a picture or two. I certainly could use some gentle c…

If you've come out and had an open outright rejection and also had a closed rejection(meaning someone has a real issue with you but doesn't say it) Which one was worse. Or if you not come out as I have not. Which one do you fear more? For me I would much rather have the outright rejection. I think having someone who has an issues and not saying so is much worse, at least for me.

The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force has released its fourth and final report analyzing the intersection of race and gender identity among transgender and gender non-conforming people who completed the National Transgender Discrimination Survey. As has been evident with other racial groups, transgender American Indians and Alaskan Native respondents experienced unique levels of discrimination because of their overlapping identities: Read Article

Yesterday , history was made in Richmond Virginia my my son and I at the Valentine Museum , er History Center . Our WONDERFUL photographer , Mr. Michael Simon was on hand to record this memorable event digitally . Also on hand Megan and Dominick , both Valentine curators . as witnesses . I love sharing history as I was born in Richmond and giving insight as to the burgeoning Transgender movement that I saw gain momentum when ms Christine Jorgensen spoke that warm May night at the old VCU Franklin st gym . I was a news reporter/ announcer at W J R B , the VCU radio station then . Yes, I moved away to California , then Texas , only to return again . Here , I saw the birth …

This might be a touchy topic for some of us who dont yet have kids but thought about it. I never really thought about it til recently. First with my brother and his fiance having a baby. Then I went over my aunts husbands sisters place. There was this little girl. Her mother didnt want her, and being this little girl is beautiful, I couldnt understand why she would just drop her off and leave her. I started holding and playing with the little girl. As the time passed, and I had visited her abit more. I offered to help watch her while this lady was at work. I found myself getting emotionally attached to this little girl. Now when I go watch her, it hurts everytime …

Recently I've read some posts here and at other places that some feel that they are too old to transition or to make the changes needed to be the people they want to be. It's never too late to make positive changes. Change is not easy but consider the alternative. Do you wish to be miserable and unhappy or do you desire to be happy, content, and full of vitality. Society will tell you that when you're in middle age, you're no longer productive or that you have nothing of value to offer. What gets me is that society thinks that we do not have the creative ideas or the desire to make change. Yes we can change and we can have an impact on others. When I read posts I'm…

  16. By Fiona Macdonald 20 July 2017“I feel like a mermaid. My body tells me that I am a man but my soul tells me that I am a woman. I am like a flower, a flower that is made of paper. I shall always be loved from a distance, never to be touched and no smell to fall in love with.” Heena, 51, is a hijra: a term, according to Bangladeshi photographer Shahria Sharmin, that has “no exact match in the modern western taxonomy of gender”. Four years ago on this date I came out as transgender and a crossdresser. It was a liberating moment which ended the many years of inner turmoil I had about my worth. The last four years have seen much growth and change in me especially on the emotional side. Each year has been different. The first year was invested in getting comfortable in my new identity. The second year saw me throw off the baggage society puts on transgender people's shoulders. The third year was one getting to know other people in the TGLB community and understanding the issues that are important to us. This past year saw a major change in my life. I previously identified as a CD/TG. In June, …

Hello! First post here, so I suppose an introduction is in order. My name is Michaela, I go by Kayla or Kay as the mood strikes me. I'm 19 years old, male-to-female, out to a few close friends and my sister. Pre-just about everything, long-since graduated high school and already a college dropout (yay!), live with my mom and sister in southern California. I was seeing a psychologist early last year, but she died a few months before I accepted my gender identity enough to actually tell anyone about it. For a number of reasons, I'd really like to start seeing a psychologist again, but I'm not quite sure how to find one who has experience with transsexuals, and I can't exact…

  21. How many transgender people are there? The National Center for Transgender Equality estimates that between 0.25% to 1% of the population is transgender. This estimate is supported by estimates from sex researchers who have attempted to arrive at an estimated number of transgender people. I suspect the number of transgender people is much closer to 1% than it is to .25%. The latter would seem an extremely conservative number to me. The business of trying to estimate how many transgender people there are is challenging at best. Many trans people integrate into mainstream society and will not divulge their past. Others are repressed and do their best to deny the transg…

I am a bit dumbfounded by it all. I mean the labels we use to describe ourselves: TS, TV, TG, CD, trans, genderqueer, etc. The nice young doctor asked me what I described myself as. Would I call myself a transvestite? No, I said, I am seeking a referral to an expert to find out what I am. If you need a description, transgender will do, I said. And that is why I post in this section of these boards, rather than in the cross-dresser section, or the transsexual section. Whilst I recognise the cross-dresser and the transsexual in me, I don't feel I am wholly one or the other.

Last month, it was gel nail color (which is still a beautiful metallic blue). Today, it was nail threading my ugly male brows into pretty, feminine a arches. I haven't left the apartment in mens face and gear in well over a month; the two big boxes of "Christopher" stuff is readied for the Goodwill bin. On Tuesday, I go to Walter Reed Army Hospital to see an endocrinologist. I feel so good, so pretty, and so feminine! ---Christine

I have been in such a low place lately. My depression meds don't seem to be working. I haven't even wanted to shave my chest or armpits or legs. Which I normally do. I have been called out before on pieces of clothes I wear. But that does not really bother me. What bothers me the most is the looks people who don't understand give me. When someone makes a comment of look at that guy he has boobs. Or is he wearing women's pants? What does he think he is. Well and a lot of those comments are made by people I deal with daily. I use the bathroom in the front of my work so nobody will walk in and see my panties that I wear daily. In fear of being a victim of a hate crime. Its s…

The Trump Administration is hell bent on destroying the transgender community. The good news is there are a lot of good people and organizations that are on our side. Here are some information sources I'm doing my best to keep updated: TGGuide Facebook Page Trans Rights Watch Trans News Watch Being immersed in this every day, it can become overwhelming but I believe we will win this war that has been unfairly waged against us. Please take some time now and then to disconnect from the news and take car…
