It's probably the most common and challenging questions we ask ourselves. I know I do, over and over. Recounting all those past feelings, thoughts, and experiences to answer yet again, yes. I must be. I've had it confirmed by my mental health therapist, gender therapist, and so many other lay people. I recently came across this well-written post that I need to tattoo into my consciousness: from Natalie Reed, The Null HypotheCis Here's another post from her that came after the Null Hypothesis, and is equally excellent: How Do I Know If I’m Trans? The bottom line(s): - There are no "binaries" or certainties in transgender any more than there are for cisgender; - Most…

  3. And other helpful tips. Not from "him" or "her," but from "them." You'd be surprised how many people ask me about my crotch. It's a lot. I have had people ask me which "parts" I have, how they look, what I plan to do with them. I don't run around with a sign that says "ask me about my crotch," but as soon as I bring up my gender identity to certain people, all of a sudden it appears on the discussion table like a highly inappropriate Seamless order. Yes, even in New York. Yes, even among seemingly "progressive" people. And it stems from the fact that most people you meet simply do not know much about non-binary gender identities. It usually goes like this: "So you don't …

  5. "Because the word is predominantly aimed at trans women, with us as the joke, it is only trans women who can “reclaim” it if we so choose. While I’m certain some trans men have had the word thrown at them, it’s not theirs to reclaim. While I’m sure drag queens have had the word thrown at them, they have the benefit of being able to wash off their makeup, take off their dress, and fade back into their male lives. I don’t have that luxury. This is my life. This is my identity, not an activity, and not a hobby. This is who I am, forever trans, forever vulnerable to the damage this word can cause." -Parker Marie Malloy, It's Time to Stop With The T Word, advocate.com I'm …

Happy Easter! So lately I've been depressed over getting older, and all that comes with that. Also discovered reddit and when I'm bored I check out different reddit subgroups. Well there is a subreddit called transpassing and folks post pics of themselves asking whether or not they are 'passable', and asking for honest opinions and tips. I thought it was a nice positive thing at first, then not so much. They also talk about exactly 'what' is preventing them from passing as ftm or mtf. Here's my problem...sooo many things considered 'unpassable' in the mtf pics...I also have. I mean I am basically NOT PASSABLE, which is even worse because I was born female. I have l…

Anyone doing anything in particular to celebrate our month? I probably won't unless it's something here at home. We've had several hundred (yes HUNDRED) shootings this year already, and I'm scared to do anything outside my home for fear of getting shot. Things like rallies, parades, and whatnot. I want to make the most of it this year, but I'm also scared. If anyone has a celebration, save me a burger or hot dog. Great, now I want a BBQ cheeseburger.

Hi all, I'm a pretty avid tennis player, though sidelined since June from a shoulder injury - has anyone ever played tennis, or other sports, with a wig on? Just wondering how to keep it on with all that movement I tried to Google this, did find out that Andre Agassi once wore one at the French open.

Proud of my dad now,he has fully come to terms I am much happier now.Came over to my place and we did talk. Finally said he had something to say and I said to say it which surprised me.Looked at me tearing up and said he has fully come to terms he has a much happier daughter in his life now saying goodbye to the unhappy son he once had.I teared up a little bit and we hugged.I looked at him and said I was proud of him for that. Before I started my transition,we had a great relationship and we still do.Even asked him what made him make this decision, said it was from my brothers that love and accept me as a sister.Good thing is he has learned to let go of an unhappy son that h…

Adrianne and I are planning a cruise for fall 2022 assuming COVID-19 is dealt with. I know that in Brazil at the moment, killing a transgender person is more or less considered a public service. On the cruise we’re looking at it would take us through the Panamá Canal with a stop in Cartagena Colombia. My understanding is that the attitude isn’t much different in Colombia than it is in Brazil. So I’m asking if anyone knows if it would be smart for me to even show my face on the ship, let alone disembark for some time in the country. And if I did disembark, should I be in fear for my life, and more importantly, Adrianne’s life?

Many times elating, sometimes deflating. There are times when I go out, shopping, when I am always referred to as Ma'am, or Hun, or some feminine pronoun, and other times, I am referred to as "sir". I am grappling with the disparity from day to day. I have gone out without makeup, and have been addressed as a woman, other times, when I am fully feminine, when I am addressed as "sir" Here are my non-scientific findings: When I feel "confident" in my gender role, I seem to pass easily, generally regardless of how I am dressedWhen I am nervous or frightened in my surroundings, even when I "think" I am dressed passably, I have trouble 50% of the timeI am not racist in any…

  13. The following article (which includes some video of the person undergoing gender confirmation surgery) to me shows how important it is to have a strong support system in place as shown several times in the video of the mother's love for her child. The mother was clueless when she first found out her child was transgender but that all changed and she loved her no different than prior to her child's announcement. I believe a person can go through this surgery without support but with just a single person in their corner raises the success of a happy life ten fold so imagine what the support of an entire family will do then couple that with friends who are supportive. http:/…

So, I lifeguard in the evenings aside fro.from my full time job. Yesterday during a monthly training there were two other guards that kept referring to my in masculine pronouns... I told them politely that I greatly prefer female pronouns and they kept using he and his. BTW, I wear a WOMAN'S SWIMSUIT when working there. Is it too much to ask to not be misgendered in the workplace?

So heres my problem. i have been working so hard towards getting all of my stuff together and finally coming out to my parents as a transgender female. Then my sister comes out as a lesbian to my parents. So i dont know what to do. I feel that my mom will support me regaurdless, but my dad always complains about my sisters sexual orientation and i live with him. And i feel like i will be letting my parents down if both of their kids come out. Before my sister came out i would go out as a female all the time, but late at night or i wouldnt stay at my house, so neither one of my parents would find out. Well because of this i have gotten rid of all of my stuff (female…

  18. As I noted in my introduction, I am in the first stages of transition. But it feels like I am not in control. I had my nails done, and pierced each ear twice. I automatically shave each morning and put on my makeup. I can't even find my mens trous and have a closet full of ladies clothes and what must be the biggest collection of ladies shoes and boots (can't get enough tall boots). I make a point of going out every day even if I don't need to...just to be sure I am seen by people. Six months ago I was terrified to even walk through the makeup aisle; today I shop their like I own the place. And I won't even start hormones until next week; I must look odd as a femini…

  19. Hello Everyone, I hope I don't cause a firestorm by what I am about to say, but I need some help sorting out some feelings that I am having concerning the ABC special on B. Jenner this evening. On one hand, I can certainly sympathize with what B. is going through, and to have the courage to talk about it, on national TV, on one level that is awesome. It puts a face to being on the Transgender spectrum. But it is a spectrum, and that is what is bothering me. We are all individuals, and while our own journeys have similarities, they also have differences - occasional, part time, full time, surgery, no surgery, out, in the closet - each one of our journeys is uni…

  20. I got to thinking about this today as I had to pick some automobile hardware at an auto parts store . I was dressed in a female top , the usual minimal jewelry , watch , ear rings . Even a decidedly female coat . I probably should have had a picture . O K , the manager who see's me all the time got talking with me about her Mother. I could tell that I was getting a detailed look. I finally leaned over the counter and said, "Look, I have both female and male parts, I'm transgender. Expecting a negative reaction , she patted my arm and said , lets talk outside . We did , she went on about her Mother .I listened . She was way more comfortable with ma that point. I ju…

I tried this test quite a few years ago. It's a series of visual challenges and questions used by psychologists to define your Sex ID or Brain Sex. I don't think tests like these are an exact science, though I was quite relieved that my brain was ID'd as female. Sex ID

I find the loneliness of it all being the most difficult. I've looked for support groups within NJ, and I have found that most of them have disbanded, the rest seem to be purely political and don't seem to care anything for support, just combat.

Hi everyone I have cross-dressed as a female since I was about 10, Many times over the years I have thought I should have been a girl, these feelings have got stronger the older I have got. As I am now widowed concerns about my spouse who was aware of my femme side but never encouraged or accepted it has gone. My children are grown up and have families of their own. Jenny
