A linguistics professor was lecturing to his class one day. “In English,” he said, “a double negative forms a positive. In some languages though, such as Russian, a double negative is still a negative.” . “However,” he pointed out, “there is no language wherein a double positive can form a negative.” . A voice from the back of the room piped up, “Yeah. Right.”

  5. Cops often get a bad rap - especially from a lot of baby boomers like myself, and even more by those who were of prime age during the "hippy" era. It's not that baby boomers are criminals...it just wasn't cool to like the cops. And of course, we here at TGG, often condemn some police for their mistreatment of GLBT people. But every once in a great while, ya gotta give credit where credit is due. Being that we are (at least in the U.S.) officially into the holiday season...when I ran across this story, I thought it was one worth sharing. -dml Dylan Stableford, 11.29.2012 "It was freezing out, and you could see the blisters on the man's feet," DePrimo, a three…

No one can explain what the "gay agenda" is, but it's pretty obvious what NOM's agenda is. Their nearly-five-minute propaganda video is laced with homophobia, bigotry, ignorance, Jim Crow-like reasoning, lies and manufactured "facts." And the American Foundation for Equal Rights called NOM on each incident.

  8. Violence is never a good thing, but this time, instead of an LGBT person being beaten by a hater, the hater was beaten by LGBT people. Hopefully, this will be one guy that will think twice before being disrespectful to someone again just because they are different than he is. Written by WiG, Oct 18, 2012 A group of apparently gay Atlanta Waffle House patrons fought back when a customer hurled the word “faggot” at them. A video of the scuffle posted on the site World Star Hip Hop on Oct. 16 shows a group of angry patrons punching, slapping and kicking the homophobe to the ground after he used the anti-gay slur. Meanwhile, onlookers cheer the attackers. “Get mad,…

  9. Dan Avery, Oct 12, 2012 Members of Justin’s Gift were told in a letter signed by parade chair Elizabeth McFarland that there were no spots left in the October 27 event: “At this time we are unable to accept your application for the parade. “We have reached our maximum for walking units.” But as MPR News uncovered, the application for the parade license wasn’t submitted until October 1o, more than two weeks after Justin’s Gift was told the parade was full. The form estimates about 31,000 people with 250 parade units will be participating. -queerty.com Anoka Halloween Parade’s Denial Of LGBT Youth Group Doesn’t Add Up

  10. There aren't very many articles or videos that get to me. Maybe I'm just getting old and soft. Or maybe because it was too easy to replace "gay" with "trans" in some of the quoted statements in this article... Lucas Grindley, September 22 2012 11:58 AM ET ""I didn't want to call myself gay because gay meant you' re broken," one officer remembers. Another was afraid being gay might stop him from becoming an officer. "One woman cries as she remembers being told that being gay "is very biblically wrong and I don't want to see you go to hell." "Another came out on her birthday and was told by her family that they didn't want to hear from her again until she was st…

  11. Another fine example of homophobia at it's very best...and the "legal" ways by which people can exercise their bigotry and get away with it. -Mike Filed: Thursday, September 13, 2012 "Cequada Clark, who has headed the adult cosmetology program since 2009, said she first learned of Principal Thomas Amons’ aversion to gay men after they both attended a regional cosmetology hair competition last April ... Amons had consulted with a staff attorney for the Beaumont Independent School District who informed him that he couldn’t exclude (Gray) based on his sexual orientation, but that as the principal of the school, he could decide to no longer offer the program." -lgbtq…

  13. P- Ming Calista, we've been dicussing English mining history as well as mining history here in Pennsyvania . While it's not a strong point for me , I at least have a working knowlege of some of the mining here in the States . Actually, I have several interests , including Early Ford history, ( 1932-1953 ). I write technical articles for the National Ford Club magazine . Oh finding a buried story on the Ford family itself is always fun too. I'll start with another one of my interests , building models of American Kitsch archecture : Now it's months away from being completed . Generally, it takes me almost a year to do one of these large dioramas . It's in 1…

  14. I'm not sure what has brought this article to the forefront considering it is from March 2012 - perhaps it is because there has been a recent comment posted. I thought maybe there had been an update, but I saw none. However, I don't recall ever seeing this article before, and thought that it might be of interest to others who may not have seen it. -Mike Posted: 03/19/2012 3:16 pm Updated: 03/19/2012 3:21 pm Greeting card verse: Jack and Jill, Went up the hill, So Jack could see Jill's fanny. In another post, Bonnie commented that she wished she looked like Susan Sarandon. This made me think of the various male actors that I used to wish I looked looked like. So I thought it might make for a fun thread... Who have you wished you looked like? Or...wished that you could be? Me.. there's been a string of them, dating back to when I was very little, perhaps starting with Chester (Dennis Weaver) on Gunsmoke. After that: Clint Eastwood ("Rowdy Yates," Rawhide) Clint Walker ("Cheyenne," Cheyenne) Peter Duel ("Hannibal Heyes," Alias Smith & Jones) James Arnes ("Matt Dillon," later years of Gunsmoke) .....................Hmmmmm, seems to be a wester…

The stats might not all be correct, and it's a Jim Carrey tweet that Jim Carrey didn't really tweet, but it's funnier than heck: "@ItIsJimCarrey - Gay marriage is legal in 6 states, but having sex with a horse is legal in 23 states. Good job, America." Source: @ItIsJimCarrey, official parody account. No affiliation with actor and funny-man, Jim Carrey.

  18. _________________________________________________________ TSA seems to prove at every turn that they have no respect or regard for anyone, and seem to deal with passengers with some special brand of contempt. Even in a statement in an update to the article, their attitude seems to clearly indicate that they don't believe one of their agents acted as was reported. If this story is true, which I have no reason to believe it isn't, I can only believe that if TSA has agents who have no respect for the remains of someone's loved one... how can we ever expect them to have respect for transpeople? Respect is respect no matter where it comes from, and no matter to where i…

  21. Sometimes I read the news and I just get angry. Some recent research into a news matter led me to the EqualityMatters.com web site. Did you know that 18 states still criminalize consensual sexual activity between same-sex partners? At least 12 of these states make such activity a felony offense. It is absolutely unacceptable that some state laws continue to target our people who have done nothing wrong. Oddly, I see Massachusetts on the list. I've thought of them as a progressive state, but they still haven't removed their law from the books, and they had one of the stiffest penalties for homosexual activity. Murphy's Law is a given in computer programming. Over my career, I have summarized -- The Laws of Software Engineering Anything is possible Especially the f**kups Nothing is every easy Nothing is ever good enough Nothing is ever done I also often say that 80% of my job is to outsmart Murphy. And -- Murphy's Law has a corollary for my special case. "If nothing can go wrong for anyone else, it Must go wrong for Daneela." Murphy has a seat permanently installed on my left shoulder. He watches every single thing I do. Finally, Goddess created the multiverse, but delegated day-to-day operations to Murphy. P.S. -- we can talk about the word-play in an…

May 18th will be the greatest day of my life ever. That is the day I go meet two of the top youtube celebs as they tour with a band that has become my favorite band to listen to. Those of you that have never heard of SMPFilms/DudeLikeHella..I will explain who that is. First look up on youtube for the Mean Kitty Song by SMPFilms(Cory"Mr. Safety" Williams). He is the man who is behind the song that made him an viral hit on youtube because of his cat Sparta. Cory has been a big impact on my life and has kept me from going insane when life was at it's worst. I would watch his videos and feel good knowing that I could relate to whatever he was doing or saying. …
