Yer bigotry, ignorance, intolerance and hatred must really run deep if you've just now noticed the colours of the NBC peacock, thinking they've just recently appeared in support of the TGLB community! The stupidity is almost hilarious... -Mike 28 June 2015 | Jack Flanagan "A Facebook user Don Stair was evidently tired with brands lining up to support the LGBTI community: so he posted on KARK 4 News - NBC’s Arkansas news station - telling them they should be ashamed." --gaystarnews.com One viewer thought NBC had changed its logo to support 'the gays'

I would like to inform you that i have created a youtube channel!! a lot of people have been asking me to do this and i finally have the confidence to do so. I think it is great and shows how today a person as young as me can have the confidence to come out with any bullying etc. I think that should be shown because it could reach someone like you when you were younger wanting to come out and struggling, that they can do it and society now is really different and can accept you for you. So PLEASE by all means share the youtube link on your facebook, twitter etc as i think its something that could ultimately change a persons ife. Please let me know what you think. https:/…

  10. This short article on Medium really touched my heart this morning: Why I Teach My Students to be Brave Being transgender is scary at times, pushing through internal and external boundaries, challenging beliefs and our safety (both emotional and physical). But it's exciting too, to feel oneself being oneself. Emma P.S. I'm now listening to Leonard Cohen singing his ballad "Hallelujah"! Turn it up! You say I took the name in vain I don't even know the name But if I did, well really, what's it to you? There's a blaze of light In every word It doesn't matter which you heard The holy or the broken Hallelujah

  11. Sometimes it's all too easy to be cynical. We see the "Top 1%" raking in obscene amounts of money, our politicians snubbing the laws for their own benefit, corporations raping the ecosystem and employees for the benefit of senior management and, let's face it, the Top 1%. So, when I see something very positive I am overjoyed and want to share it. "Net Neutrality" is something I understand at a gut level: it treats the Internet as a freeway system where all traffic has equal priority to reach end users without pay-for-special-service "lanes" that would enable (or hinder) selected traffic reaching its destinations faster or slower. It's absolutely critical and fundamen…

I found this entertaining and possibly prescient. How many more times can Apple raise the bar enough to keep us coming back for more? "I was an iPhone man once, like you. Then Sh*tphone changed everything." "iPhones are really just sh*tphones from the future." https://medium.com/m...ry-a44e66434807 Some Language may not be suitable for all Readers

And telephone calls too... Just Getting It Off My Chest Dept. This morning sitting in our neighborhood coffee shop enjoying (what else?) my coffee and catching up on news of the day, when a man at a nearby table says into his laptop, "Okay, can you hear me okay?" Sure, yes, I heard him Just Fine. Thankfully a woman nearby turned to me and rolled her eyes. She encouraged me to say something with "I can't stand this either, would you mind telling him?" I stood and told him that I didn't come here to listen to conference calls. Oh, but he didn't hear me because of his Bose noise-canceling ear buds. Eventually I got through and we proceeded to have the quick discuss…

  14. For some years it's been clear to me that the fundamental problem we face is over-population. No matter how much we are successful at conservation of resources, recycling, emissions control, as long as the population continues to grow any such conservation measures will be overtaken. It's a very difficult multi-faceted and geopolitical problem and no one really knows what to do to solve it. But like so many things we need to awareness and focus. This book has text and photos that cannot be ignored: https://populationspeakout.org/the-book/view-book/ Emma

This appears like a good test http://www.kgw.com/s...tness/24076407/ If you first just read the article it sounds like "what the heck", does this really give an idea on if you will live five years more. Watch the video and note that many had issues completing it. I was not going to try it as I do similar actions when teaching but did it anyways, perfect 10.

This post has nothing to do with transgender issues nor is it humorous. I am very saddened to read this about and from Oliver Sacks this morning in the NYT: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/19/opinion/oliver-sacks-on-learning-he-has-terminal-cancer.html?action=click&pgtype=Homepage&region=CColumn&module=MostViewed&version=Full&src=mv&WT.nav=MostViewed I've always enjoyed his books and writing. He's erudite, interesting, and has a wonderful and enthusiastic voice that I find inspirational. I wish him the best in the coming months and will certainly buy and read his autobiography when it's released. Emma

I hope you don't mind my posting something entirely unrelated to transgender topics. Just wanting to share some books and ideas with you. I love to read. At times it's a wonderful escape into the unknown or unknowable. I'm now thoroughly enjoying "The Hummingbird's Daughter" by Luis Alberto Urrea. It's about the author's real great-aunt Teresita, who lived in the late 1800s in Mexico. It's so much fun to be immersed into what life was like back then. Very brutal in many ways especially if you didn't happen to be part of the aristocracy. In case you like books such as this, here's a few others that I enjoyed: "Dune" by Frank Herbert I read this science fiction…

I came across this posting on Medium (which I love) this morning: https://medium.com/productivity-in-the-cloud/6-links-that-will-show-you-what-google-knows-about-you-f39b8af9decc I think it's valuable to know that Google (and of course, FB, Yahoo, and all the rest) are tracking our every move. I don't worry much about it but here again, good to be aware. Emma
