Today the same salon that has cut my hair for about 2 years put specific conditions on my being accepted for beauty services. I called for a haircut as usual but reminded the stylist of my being transgendered and wanting a feminine hairstyle. I simply asked if it would be helpful for her if I wore make-up to help recommend a style that would be best for my facial shape and feminine identity in public. I was told that I would have to come in for a special appointment because my being there would be "bad for busines". I was told that because it was a small town everybody talks and the owner didn't want that. I respected the viewpoint that they were looking ou…

Sometimes I wonder what is worse, trying to pass as a woman while living out my day as a man who thinks like a woman, not attempting to pass at all but just carry on in my life with confidence, OR getting all dressed up to present as a woman knowing that some people will definately recognize that I am a man trying to look like a woman who may or may not feel sorry for me having to look so odd. I try to act ignorant of anyone looking at me at all, I don't really want to know what people think of me, but if they are interested in understanding why I act this way then I am more than happy to explain. Some days I look in the mirror and I see the feminine beauty in me. …

Do you feel that there is a discrimination against the Trans Community within the GLBTQ Community? If so, why is that? What do you think it would take to bridge the gap?

I was curious if there might be any reverse couples on this board. For those that are confused a reverse couple is an FTM man and a MTF woman in a committed relation ship.

I Desperately Need Some Advice I would like to ask everyone here if they could help to understand this issue, how to fix it, and what their advice would be, if any. I have managed to place myself into a dilemma with no obvious solution and I need help before I lose my sanity. Any advice or recommendation would be appreciated; no suggestion will go unconsidered. I have been married to my wife for 3 years now. I love her dearly. This has, as one can imagine, placed a significant strain upon our marriage; we are in a tail spin which we simply cannot recover. I have accepted my marriage is not going to survive this, and although it hurts I can understand why. The issue the…

It is known that there are transgendered people who adapt to society and will never even begin transition. When two of these people with opposite brains come together, interesting things can happen. I married a woman who thinks more like a man and I think exactly like a woman even though I am biologically male. Though I do not want my penis 99% of the time. When I have sex with my wife it does work and we have always enjoyed each other. When I have sex it is almost impossible for me to visualize the experience as a male. I have always imagined myself being the woman and my visualization is so strong that I actually feel as the girl experiencing this. This is s…

i started dating a trans girl earlier this year. We really hit it off and had many things in common. It was a really great relationship until we became serious. I wont go into details but i think im done with dating until after surgery. Besides, i think my hrt is sorta getting me into being attracted to men now. Stay away from relationships until after transition. not worth the pain.

Ok, so I have this really shi**y part time job until graduate school starts in July. I was in the break room yesterday, and they were bashing the gays and lesbians that works for us. They were talking about how many of them are homophobes and how they would literally drop everything and run away because they don't "want to get raped." I was so horrified over it. It was like 15 minutes of hell. I heard it from my own family the last thing i need to hear it from is my job. I looked on the internet and saw the company i work part time for is rated as the least friendly towards the GLBT community. Thank God i am only there for 4 more months.

I talked about GLBT with my son. He asked a number of questions to which I was able to answer. He asked if being gay is a sin? I answered no. I shared with him that I knew that I was different all my life. I love these moments because it presents an opportunity to share that we are people, too. We touched on topics like gays in the military, trangenderism, my wearing women's clothing, Christianity, GLBT people in the church, and numerous other topics. I'm happy that he's accepting and open about my transgenderism. He's always been perceptive about life. I hope that there will be more opportunities like this. :)

On Monday I attended my first real-life Transgender meeting in Appleton Wisconsin. TG guide prepared me well, for I spent most of the meeting listening to others. Then I asked one question and about ten people were suddenely eager to answer me directly. I felt comfortable in the group and I plan on going there every month. I strongly encourage anyone who has not had a real life experience like this to find a local group in your area. What is really helpful is to hear everyone's voices and see their mannerisms. The overall feeling is similar to watching some of the videos on you tube but even better. I am much more confident about myself after seeing how com…

I just got off the phone with the Dean of Admissions and Academics and he informed me ill be starting seminary this fall. This is very exciting for me because not many Seminaries will accept a transgendered person to get their Masters of Divinity for a church. This is like a dream come true for me. I told him about my transition and the financial aid department is even ready when I change my name legally to Annah next year. He even gave me advice on how to do it effectively as he has a wonderful friend who is trans. All my life I struggled with churches putting us down and for the first time in my life, I see a church who really accepts me for who I am and they dont…

First I am not afraid to be out of the ordinary. I call that extraordinary. Also if I use the word disorder in here I am going by the current diagnoses of Gender Identity Disorder. You may not think of yourself as disordered at all. I am not implying anthing by using the word other than the point that I am discussing in this thread. I was thinking about something rather philosophical this morning and I hope that you see a positive in this. I happen to enjoy watching Star Trek a lot with my family and they often use the word Anomaly to describe something that doesn't follow what they usually expect and they often do not have a lot of information about it. As you re…

Luke 15:11-32 I was reading a couple of posts about the Prodigal Son. Looking at the father huggng his wayward son is a touching moment. Many words can describe the poignant scene; forgiveness, love, acceptance, and joy are some words that come to mind. Affirmation comes to mind when I view the picture. Yes the son had spent everything he had on wanton living. The son felt shame and remorse, so much so that he was willing to be a servant. The father would have none of it. The father's affirmation of his son demonstrated his love for him. Contrast this response to that of the older son. He responded in anger upon hearing that his young brother's return. I'm than…

Ok, I have a question...I want to start HRT (and yes correctly, under care). I am 41, 5'10", 185 and workout daily. I have a very defined body and am wondering what effect hormones will have on me? If I am taking them but continue working out, how much will I hurt my breast growth, if any? As is I have a small B cup just from having a developed chest. Anyone have some thoughts on this?????? I appreciate any and all comments.

I'm going to get a new doctor soon (because I'm 18 now) and I plan on asking him to refer me to a therapist.I was wondering if anyone could give me at time line of what to expect, like how long before i start hormones and when i do start them what to expect in the first year.I was also wondering if since my mom is a 40D cup size(the women in my family are well endowed) and I'm less then a decade past puberty will i have decent sized breast? Oh, and i plan on dressing as a boy for as long as possible exactly when does it become noticeable?

Hi everyone, I just needed to kinda vent for a little bit and hope for some encouragement and stuff. Tomorrow, 3-23, I'm going to my first therapist session to move along and begin to fully transition to become a woman. I was lucky enough to find a therapist who works with people who are on a budget and specializes in people with GID. There are a million emotions that are going through my head right now and I can't wait to see how it'll go. I'm excited to really start my way to eventual SRS but nervous about opening up to a complete stranger. I'm worried about what my extended family will think and friends and everyone really. Also I'm a little angry with myself tha…
