Lately I've been noticing a lot of people e.g. cashiers saying something that sounds a great deal like "Can I help you, man?" Now, there's a nice big stoner culture here and people are pretty laid back, so this would not be all that surprising, to be addressed that way when perceived male. But I realized I've been hearing it a lot more lately (more than previously, enough for me to take note of it anyway) and I'm not completely sure that's what they're saying. I realized all I can really hear is "ma" and some sort of closed-lip consonant. In Japanese, a "single letter" n/m syllable are the same thing (much like the well-known r/l thing). These are very similar sounds. …

I have seen, and heard of, plenty of people for whom that's exactly the opposite. They pass wonderfully in person, and as soon as they open their mouths it all goes out the window. Or on the phone, where they just never pass. There was an FtM in a sandwich shop I frequent, today. I would've never suspected a thing until he opened his mouth and out came a female-pitched voice. I felt sorry for the guy... once I realized what was going on, it was apparent he had done chest bindings and everything, and he looked totally awesome. Just a no go on the voice. I think for anyone who plans on or is contemplating any sort of transitioning or passing, we can't just not worry abou…

My sister sent me in relation to our family life, but it seems oddly apropos on many levels for people dealing with trans issues too. I'm sure it was unintentional, but I sorta like the symbolism of the band's singer (a guy) appearing alternately in the room with the girl who decides to make a run for it.. :)

Are you able to spot closet TGs? I am, at least MTFs. There's a professor at my school whom I suspect of being a woman in a man's body; I couldn't describe what gives "him" away, but I suspect it's like "gaydar." (I'd never say anything to "him" about it, though; some things you just don't talk about.)

Hi everyone, I live in the US. I had a question about transgenderism (MTF). Since my middle teens, i have questioned my gender because i rather hang out with the women then the guys. I wanted to be one of them. I can understand and relate to women a lot better than men because i know where they are coming from. From time to time, i question my gender in my mid twenties because i feel that i should of been a girl because i represent them better than men. However, i never crossdress before until a few months ago when i try on a bra. it felt awkward at first then it felt right. However, i don't know if i could pass or not because i'm the only child living with my mom…

I'm sorry if you've already answered this somewhere. But I'm really curious. I know you're not TG, so: 1) What interests you about us? 2) How did you find us? 3) What made you decide to look for us?

So, I've been thinking about posting this sort of thing on a TG forum for a while, but never really could come up with the full explanation of my life until tonight, so here it is. Sorry it's so long, and if you read it, thanks. The earliest memories of my childhood, I was a boy. I never thought I was a girl, I never had any illusion of not being a boy. I was a boy, plain and simple. There was no social pressure on me to behave like a boy, to play with boy toys, I just did. I loved riding my bike (was off of training wheels by 3), running around in the woods, playing army men, playing with Jurassic Park toys and having the dinosaurs eat the people, that kind of stuff…

Hello everyone here. I just had a question I had to get off my chest. Has anybody here ever woke up in the morning with anxiety or even high levels of anxiety? I had that happen to me over the weekend. They were gender related. Its like when I wake up every morning I am having a battle within myself. I have periods of denial and frustration. A piece of me denies being trans and fights to be male for the sake of being normal. But the real me always battles that side to myself. Its a real crappy way to start the morning. I just want to know has anybody have or use to go through this? If so how did you manage? Thank you for your input everyone. Love you all.

Ahh I'm confused lately. I'm like looking in the mirror and seeing that I'm more attractive and feminine slowly but surely, which is good, but the question is... How do you tell if you're becoming who you, on the inside, really are, or if you're just excited when you look in the mirror because you see a pretty girl? I guess this isn't a problem for straight girls, but still... I look downstairs like after a shower n see stuff that I don't think should be there but is that me seeing myself and I shouldn't have anything, or is it me seeing a girl who does have something and I don't think it should be there on her? It's pretty confusing. I mean Iunno I just feel deta…

Hi I have always had quite sensitive skin, and as is the same for everyone some parts more sensitive than other's. I pretty much shave as much of myself as i can legs, arms chest, stomach, pits etc. I find that after shaving that some area's start to get irritated and rash up. Over the next few days it gets worse untill it's like i have acne. In the past i've solved this problem by just not shaving those area's that are worse affected, but i dont like doing that. It just doesn't look right to me having these horrible jet black hairs. Has anyone ever had this problem before? If so is there a way to stop it? Any help would be much appreciated :D

Hi all, I know I haven't been super active lately.. Since my lay-off, things have gotten surprisingly busy. I am now back in school, working on my Computer Science degree. And even better, I got a sewing machine! Yay! So I'm learning how to use that well, still working on my knitting and improving my cooking skills... I made this apron as my first attempt I hope everyone has been well, I miss the discussions here and hope to get back into the swing of things soon!!

Revelation! "Committed long-term relationships are not what I need right now." That and I couldn't see it lasting. Neither did she. The only difference was the timeframe. She thought it would happen later. The stress caused by my discomfort with the relationship was enough to affect my driving. Barely missed two crashes inside a single minute. Pulled into a parking lot and sat there until I could go on. Had to talk first though. Wasn't the best place for it, but then again, I didn't feel like I had a choice. Oh well. There's never a good place or time for "bd news." It hurt, but both of us will be ok. I think I'm going to try "casual" relationships, w…

I picked up a copy the other day. This is a great series I really can't recommend enough, especially for MtFs, if you're at all interested in manga and anime. The art is beautiful, the characters are as believable as they can be (considering the circumstances ... ). The basic premise is that an extremely effiminate boy accidentally gets creamed by a space ship, and they bring him back to life.. but as a girl. (Whoops.) It takes a while into the books to figure out why, they actually do explain eventually, and it sorta works into the plot. But anyway, the basic premise is a very effective introduction to TSism in my opinion. This girly-boy becomes a girl and his friend…

Hey everyone I haven't been around here recently. I've been going to another board, but it's gotten full of angry trans ladies and I don't feel it to be a positive environment, so I'm coming back here for the time being. Maybe I'll stick around a while. Anyway, for those who don't remember me, I'll do the numbers: I'm 19½ Hormones for 2½ years SRS scheduled with Dr. Bowers this June Have had Laser on what used to be my moustache Getting Electrolysis to clean up for surgery Had name changed over a year ago Now getting to what I really want to talk about... I've been dressing as a girl in public and going as Natalya or Natalie for about 20 months, but I did…

Kate Bornstein brought this idea up in her book Gender Outlaw but sort of brushed it off as half-baked. The funny thing is, lately I've had an experience I can only relate to people as feeling a great deal like waking up from a life long brainwashing. Things suddenly seem so clear with the globs of mental goop starting to be removed. It is actually sort of similar to Tadatoshi's description in some ways ... of course I've always been a girl, and now that I'm finally finding the cracks in my clay facade, I am able to tear pieces away and both allow others to experience the "real" me and experience the world without a lot of the fog/dirt that has clouded the lens for many y…

On Wednesday night I went to NYC to the gay center. There was a transgender support group there and it was wonderful. I have done a ton of research on the net, but nothing beats actually coming out to the community. The meeting was 7:30 to 9pm. The room was filled with people from the trans community. Everyone was at different stages of transition and coming out with various age ranges. I went to the first group of the "semester" and as time goes on we will discuss various topics. After the hour we all went to the local coffee house and hung out for an hour socializing. And to top it all off, there were trans boys there(diversity rules!). It was just awesome. I feel p…

I sent an email to a former co-worker and said, this has to be our little secret for right now, but this is what I've been up to lately, and then I sent her some pics of me in a dress, skirt, etc. I did not specifically tell her that I was a trans-sexual or that the pics were of me in my girl clothes. She replied back with: How awesome! She is really cute! Is she around here or is she from somewhere else?? I really enjoy our friendship, but I am so happy about your new love - it is wonderful. Does your daughter know yet? I replied back and went, um, Thank you for the compliment, but I have something to tell you. Those are not pics of my girlfriend, …

I just adore being a tgirl, I have finally found my inner and true self. I am almost out 24X7 now, not at work yet, but that will be coming later this year. I have met many great people, made lots of new friends, met lots of people online (a special wink at everyone on this board) I went grocery shopping today, a lady came around the corner and bumped into me with her cart while I was bent down picking out some pantyhose, she said, "oh I'm sorry honey, are you okay? Yes thank you,. I'm fine. cute, cute guy at one of the cash registers, hmm, yes, I think I'll go in this line. He rang up all my groceries, plus the bottle of diet coke I bought. He aske…

I got pulled over this weekend. I had blown a "No turn on red" sign. So Im digging around in my glove box when the cop comes up to the window. I hand him this crumpled packet of insurance cards/registrations i have been building over the years, and then i hand him my ID. He said, "Miss, can you just give me what i need out of here," indicating the packet of fun. So i dig through it and notice my insurance card is out of date and the real one was somewhere in my car. My registration was just renewed recently and the new card hadn't arrived yet. So I explain this to him and start digging around my glove box for the Insurance card. It wasn't there so I told him that …
