Happy New Year, east coasters! Well, in about 15 minutes anyway. Tonight I am doing lots of shaving, maybe I'll try this face mask stuff my friend recommended, me and my wife will probably do each other's nails... and I'm not wearing any guy clothes. It's a symbolic little ritual for me as I pass into the new year, leaving baggage behind! And my one resolution really (that stuff I mentioned on the other thread was just serendipitous timing) besides "live another year" (thanks Kristi ) is that I'm not going to switch out to guy clothes until the first day of the new year has passed. If that means I have to pull out my androgynous girls' stuff to go out.. then that's wh…

I wasn't going to post this because I've pretty much figured out the answer for myself, and I've also got a pretty decent guess at what the forum response will be. But I was egged on by a certain someone, and maybe people will find it interesting anyhow. This is a reformatted set of IMs so if it has funny pacing, that's why. I've been finding something interesting lately. I have several fronts on which I can progress transition-wise but they are sort of decisive in that they remove barriers to further transitioning .. rolling snowballs, sorta. Things like doing voice practice in person with friends, which would let me try going out, which would open up more possibilit…

Sworn Virgins Would you give up sex for the rest of your life in order to be socially accepted as the gender of your choice? If you've already transitioned, would you have preferred to give up sex instead of transitioning if it could get you socially accepted as the gender of your choice?

So I'm out to friends and family, but I would like to come out to my professors at my university. Unfortunately it's a small private school, so many professors I had last year I will have again and again until I graduate. So naturally, last year they were introduced to me as a female and I have since started my transition. I would like to send out an email to all my professors to note them of the changes I have made, and to ask them to please refer to me with male pronouns and my chosen male name from now on. However, I feel that this is going to be a VERY awkward experience. I'm not afraid of discrimination, I'm just afraid to write the stupid email. lol So I just wan…

Everyone here always comes up with insightful topics and discussions here. You people share your life's ups and downs and offer people like me much needed insight. I feel that we have quite a community here and I am glad to be apart of it. PS I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday.

My therapist recommended this book to me, and I finally picked up a copy the other day. I'm only about half way through it but it's already totally rocked a lot of my views and has (at the risk of sounding like a total marketing geek) really been pretty paradigm-defining for me. It's wonderful, she just comes right out and says all the things, bluntly, succinctly, and humorously, that everyone else (including us) has been afraid to say. I don't agree with everything she says, but I agree with enough that it's been really refreshing to hear someone else thinking them besides me. It's obtainable now in cheap/used paperback so I really recommend it if anyone's looking for…

Today we exchanged Yule gifts, and my wife got me something that just... wow. It speaks for itself so I'll just include some pictures. Its title is "Chrysalis" and its subtitle is "Protect and cherish; give wings to fly". I'm not sure what the artist's original intention was (daughter and mother? two women in love?) since it's a "print", but I know what it means for us.

I've been thinking a lot about this topic lately, especially as I've been reading that Gender Outlaw book. It actually fills in a major hole for me in my understanding of the world around me, because people often tend to assume that I will want to take charge, go first, take the biggest portions, whatever; that their needs are submissive to mine. This always annoyed the living %@#%@ out of me, honestly. I used to be a pretty overbearing and selfish kid, but as I grew up I've tried to consciously shed most of that and think of the needs and feelings of others in anything I do. I don't always succeed, but I got to a point where I realized I was trampling on people occasion…

I'm only going to leave these up here for a day or two because I don't want it to become part of the internet wayback machine's perpetual archive of hilarity But I thought I'd post a sample of the voice progress so far and ask what everyone thinks. I'm attaching a sample of the male voice for comparison. (Sadly I actually like the way it sounds.. just not coming out of my mouth by default.. heheh) The female voice sample is sort of a parody... someone told me my voice sounds a little too uptight like I'm doing a voiceover for a PBS special, so.. I figured I might as well make the best of it until I can correct that. (Edit: I removed the male sample but I'll go ahe…

  14. One of my hobbies is geofiction, the art of constructing imaginary countries. I followed the example of the many imaginary countries out there on the Web (such as Virtual Verduria, Itlani, and Kaupelan) and made my own imaginary country. It's of interest to people here because in my imaginary country, a transgendered person can be accepted as their gender of choice simply by presentation, i.e. without physically transitioning. Here it is: Kingdom of Daruny So, what do you all think?

I am a 82 year old retired professional living in North London, UK. I have cross dressed all my life, mostly in the closet. It was not until I was able to access Newsgroups that I realised I was transsexual. Started hormones some eleven years ago, a decision which I have never regretted. I did not tell my wife about either the crossdressing or the hormones. When we met and married we were living under barrack-like conditions where crossdressing was not possible and later I did not tell her because I, correctly, felt she would not accept. Eventually my wife found some of my hormone tablets I had carelessly left out and demanded to know what they were for. Ther…

This is a complex topic to try to introduce in a succinct manner, so bear with me here. And yeah I have a point to get to below I'm pretty extremely dissociated at the moment, which means I feel like I have an inner "me" that's looking out through the eyes of my body-bot, so to speak. I think I've got a pretty weird view of the world from inside here. Most people are probably a little bit dissociated on a regular basis, but I've been a pretty extreme case from everything I can gather. I know another friend who's a lot like me on a lot of things (we're (including him) still not sure if he's a gay guy or a transwoman in denial really) including this one. We were discuss…

I've not posted much on the boards lately as life is getting busier all the time. My partner is working extra on weekends so I'm filling the 'housewife' role alot the past few weeks. Maybe I ought to get a French Maid outfit?? Work certainly isn't giving up on its' time demands either. So, with that said, while I'm not contributing much, visiting this message board is a good life-line from the near meaningless rat-race. Thank You all for being wondeful people. MIWBJ p.s., I'm hoping after the holidays things will slow down enough to participate more again. I even found the digital camera and hope to post a picture or two. I certainly could use some gentle c…

I everyone. I really hate to put this up as a post but I am so flabbergasted that I had to tell someone. I'm at work tonight in my uniform and as usual I am in my guy mode. I'm talking to this man who is slightly intoxicated. He says to me, "you are a beautiful lady" , the guy floored me. I did not know what to say, If my partner would have been there I probably would have had to correct him because although my brain is female I'm not supposed to be. Since no one else was around I just blushed like all get out and pretended that I didn't hear what he said, but he repeated it and said that he was serious and that he really thought that I was beautiful. I don't think the …

Good Afternoon Everyone, How's everybody doing today? I've always considered myself a strong person but I'm really failing in the guilt department. I'm feeling so guilty that I didn't tell my wife my true feelings of wanting to be a girl 14 years ago. In fear of loosing her, I always told her it was crossdressing; which was wrong. How did anyone else in here deal with the guilt of breaking up your family over this? My wife and I have been trying to coexist for our children over the past 3 weeks, but it's just not working. Without our day to day love and affection we're used to giving each other; it seems to be more painful in coexisting than it would to be liv…

After a cursory search of the board, did not find anything addressing this issue -- if the women of one's family often get breast cancer, does that mean a mtf on hormones will also have a significantly greater chance of breast cancer as well? Is anyone aware of someone who transitioned and later developed (breast) cancer? MIWBJ

So many heavy topics here lately. I wish I could contribute in some way but there's not much I can do besides add an online sympathy note. So... if you want to read about someone else's frivelous plans for a small distraction, read on... Myself and the neighbor lady are going out for a pedicure today to relax and decompress. At the very least, I'm going to get clear polish. There is the usual temptation to get some color too, along with the usual hesitation about possible negative attention. Afterwards -- cheescake! Then we might go shopping a bit as she tries to find something for her bf. Maybe we'll have time for a make-up lesson too? I'm going out in mostly male…
