Hello All, Before I ramble, being this is about some events the past few days, I'm wondering if this is an OK place to post, or is there a more appropriate area? I've taken a few steps, it's a start. I spoke with a gg friend on Friday and laid out my closeted situation that is starting to bubble up and push the door slightly open. She was amazingly sympathetic and loved the idea of me dressing for Halloween. I suspect she might even offer to help with clothing and make-up! She also spoke in-depth about writing a letter to my partner and letting him know where I'm at. She also mentioned several things to say / do to help get him aboard, or at least not start negative…

I am going to the cosmetic surgeon monday at 2:30 to get Juvederm injections in my upper lip. It lasts 4 to 6 months and promises to give me a kissable pouty mouth. I'm in my fabulous 40's and I'll be damned if I'm going to spend the next 50 years of my life with no upper lip. If I have a 'trout pout' you will see one angry freemouse monday evening. I am nervous and praying that I dont turn out like the cat lady, see below. This aint me, it's catlady.

I was just thinking on my way home from work yesterday, that I am so grateful to have accidentally found this message board. It's inexplicable, but I have not felt this much at home on any other site that I have visited, and this is the only board i hang with. I actually think about some of you during the day here and there, and look forward to checking in to see how everything is going for you. It's inexplicable because I am not tg, but the issues presented here are really universal, about real life humans making their way in this world. Issues concerning fear, rejection, family, confusion, transition, success and joy and peace. And no matter where you fall in those c…

I really really really don't mean any disrespect. I'm not calling anyone a coward. I don't mean to advocate any politcal action. <--- That's my disclaimer. In short: I can't. I refuse. I resist. I spent too much time worrying, about what everyone else thinks, to leave any of *my* places just because my prior history there is "as a man." The people in my life will either comply with their obligations based on our shared social contract (lubricated by my very polite and respectful behavior) or suffer the consequences. The exact nature of these consequences will depend greatly upon the nature of my relationship to the person in question, but will be there …

Have any of you ever have any doubt or question being transgender and if so what made you come to terms with the fact that you are trans? Sorry if this is a dumb topic.

when i was about 7 or 8 years old, i had already known for quite some time that i loved being a girl. i didnt know that it was transgenderism, and i didnt know that there was anyone else like me. but i knew that i loved dressing up, and i loved it when all the people who saw me would use female pronouns with me Without Asking(!) and all of that. at any rate, when i was about that age, i found this book of short stories. and one of these stories spoke to me like no other story ever had. it was about a child, who was raised androgynously...and hir adventures in childhood, and in life. now this story doesnt speak just to transgender people i think....the author probably did…

it appears that this semblance of acceptance that the younger people talk about existing nowadays...is causing a rift to some degree between young and old - least ways it is for me. it seems that some of the more recent and modern programs on TV with doctors and therapists galore to discuss and explain to the world this thing called transexualism... is making it sound like TS people always exhibit some clear-cut, unquestionable signs of being TS when very young, leaving no question in the minds of parents, family, friends and society that a child is TS. of course some of us older ones know that wasn't the case when we were very young as somehow, we learned very early…

I have painted my nails and am wearing hose for the first time in several years. I'd forgotten how sensual the hose is as it hugs and warms and cools my legs. I missed seeing my toe-rings and seeing my nails colored... it looks so natural like they should always be this way. What wonderful things did you re-discovered after ignoring yourself for a long time? What was it that you missed?

Does anyone know what it is called? Also, do only surgeons who specialize in FFS know how this is done? My upper lip is SCREAMING for this kind of help. I actually was contemplating rhinoplasty but upon close examination of my horrid profile shots, it aint the probiscus, its the gross flatness from under the nose to top of lip!

 This has been a tough nut to crack since I went full-time in '99...Friendship. First thing I lost were all my bible-thumping straight friends, but I had family...then the family started to drop by the wayside... But I was still happily [for the most part] married to my best friend...no worries then. But then she left me [ouch]....thus I became essentially a social shut-in....I worked all day/week, coming home to my little cottage near the Lake, only to emerge the next mornig/monday for work...I was/am a working girl...a dream come true many times over...but no social life cause: 1. Risky...who tell/share your life with will not take your stealth as ser…

I am just starting therapy..and very nervous. I am 47 and with in just the last few years have come to realize (with the help of my gay friend Jp) that I am tg. I tried to ignore it like I have most of my life but now it wont go away. So onto therapy and see where I go from there. Ryan

I went to two Goodwills over the last couple of days, and wow! $5-6 pants and all kinds of other wacky stuff. They're not super mainstream nice places so no one looks funny at you if you dig through the "wrong" section, and it's cheap enough that you can grab some random stuff to try. I got some nice soft $3 pajamas (which, oddly enough, the "new" stores have not been able to supply for me!) and discovered I fit into size 14 jeans well enough that I probably could (and probably will) wear them in guy mode with no comments. That was a pleasant surprise. I finally reorganized my closet the other day, which was much-needed... pulled out a bunch of old and oversized cloth…

Hi GirlInside, I have seen by some of your posts that you knew, even at a relatively young age, that you would never be able to transition due to a masculine build. I was wondering, if that wasn't the case, if you just had an average build, do you think that you would transition? Or do you still think you would not maybe due to your voice or anything else that you think may cause a question from the public. And also, it's a pleasure to have you here, your posts are always well written and interesting! -Kim

I just want to give Aylwin some public gratitude. Over a week ago, I would have been terrified of letting anyone know. Talking to Aylwin and seeing how well that had been going to her really encouraged me to tell an old friend. I even got to hang out with this friend this weekend as shannon and it went really excellently. I was a bit nervous, but other than that she said it was one of the more normal/fun social times we'd had in years(possibly ever). That was on Sunday, and I thought that went well enough that I told a good amount of my closes friends yesterday, and even hung out with a couple last night. Things really couldn't better in regard to how everything wor…

I'll bet that most of you have seen the movie "A Soldier's Girl". I just bought the DVD and this is the best love story I have ever seen, bar none. I could not keep from crying to save my life. The ending was so sad. If anyone hasn't seen this movie I highly reccomend it. Note: keep a box of kleenex handy. The next movie that I want to see is "Normal". Have any of you seen it?

Wired magazine recently had a blurb along the lines of "When a transgendered one has gotta go, where?" They answered with http://www.safe2pee.org. I checked, the site is real and created by self-described genderqueers with anarchist tendencies. You can search, add, upload photos, etc. Search is by city and state but includes Canada, too. Check it out before you go out!

I have a few questions for everyone: 1) Is the opposite TG gender an absolute mystery to you? For me, FTMs are as much of a mystery as any other men--more so, actually, because they have taken huge steps to actively reject something that, to me, is a dream come true. I imagine FTMs find MTFs equally mysterious because of this. (I hope no one is offended by what I just said.) 2) Do you think MTFs or FTMs have it easier? Why? 3) Do you feel that you have more in common with non-TG people of your (internal) gender or TG people of the opposite gender?

Ok, this is apropos of probably nothing for anyone else, but I just had to post it before I burst... The other day I asked my wife if she'd pick me up some pink nail polish at the store while she was there. It's sort of funny because I figured going to the makeup section wouldn't be a big deal for her, but I think it made her as uncomfortable as it would me (in different ways). She's such a tomboy sometimes. I repaid her kindness with Paradise Bakery cookies though. I told her I didn't want to freak her out with it (she's still getting used to some things) so I said I'd just use it when she wasn't around and clean off my nails before she got home. But she has this …

So I am at work today, and a few people start to talk about Sen. Craig, and the whole airport bathroom occurance. There was a general level of disgust, that these things can go on in public bathrooms. I made the comment that I did not appreciate that sort of behavior, that I have a beloved 12 year old nephew who could be introduced to that nastyness and I would be really peeved about that. And, you know, the guys at work can't talk about this type of activity without a good chuckle. So the salesman at work says, when he was in Fort Wayne, he was warned of a public park, where this kind of lude behavior goes on all the time and he was warned to stay away from there. …

There are certain things that I do like fix my hair a certain way. I wear nail polish and capris sometimes. This is not my attempt to coming out, its just my style and way of expressing myself. So here is the theme of this topic. How did some of you start to live full time as a woman? Either before or after HRT. Was it a gradual process for you? Thanks for your insight everyone. ^_^
