So...I'm new to this forum. Thought I would get that out of the way. I've been on HRT now since 2005. Lately I'm noticing that no matter what I do I keep gaining weight. When I started HRT I was at 145 lbs. I've been low carb ever since 2002 and I don't cheat. I'm 53 now and I noticed the weight gain started around 48. I'm now at 199 and I just keep gaining. I'm training with a personal trainer 2 times a week, I attend team training 2 times a week and I do yoga 2 times a week. Getting super frustrated and depressed. Any insights would be welcome at this point.

I need to get the facts about the pros and cons of each, and would like some opinions as well. I can’t decide which would be the best for not only GCS, but FFS as well. I’ve heard that Thailand is one of the best places in the world for trans procedures. But I don’t know if the US would be a better option as we have some amazing surgeons here too. So I need to know what everyone here says. And like I said, I’m wanting both facts and opinions.

It may seem far fetched but imagine getting a full 3 dimensional scan of your complete body geometry, This scan would then be entered in to a program that would allow the patient and the surgeon to transform the patient’s body into the precise appearance desired. Once the body shape has been defined, the program would determine what changes would be needed to the physical geometry, hormones, biological function and reproductive function. This means: e.g A MTF would be Totally anatomically, genetically female producing her own hormones, capable of menstruating, giving birth, breastfeeding. It would be absolutely impossible to differentiate between someone born female a…

After shopping for skin care products, I feel overwhelemed at all the choices. Narrowing my choices down, I have chosen a toner, moisturizer with an spf rating and a sensitive skin facial cleanser. In general, are use of these products adequate for daily outdoor exposure?

Hi everyone, I've been starting to gather more information about surgery. It's still down the road, but I know there may be some lengthy timing considerations so I want to find out what I need to know so that I'm ready to proceed, well, when I'm ready to proceed :-) The one perplexing question that came up when I was researching cost estimates was about vaginoplasty and oriechtomy. I found that some people get oriechtomy before (or possibly even without) vaginoplasty. My question is, is the oriechtomy procedure part of vaginoplasty if you get that done? So basically, if i'm looking on a surgeon's website and seeing prices for the different procedures, do I have to fac…

Well time for me to once again go back into hiding. I hate that everyone is so afraid of people that are different. I got called out today in front of everyone about my chest that because of my natural hormones and an over active pituitary gland is getting larger. I really like that it is. But also for the fact that I was bent over pulling a part and I guess my pants had sagged down some and my underwear was showing some. Well this tech yelled really loud so everyone could hear just to make me feel like crap. So I guess it's back to being uncomfortable me at work. The person who I have always had to be. I just want to disappear now. Like my disphoria isn't enough of a pro…

I was sitting at work eating lunch at my desk when a call came through with no caller ID. I said hello (if I know the caller i say Hi this is Karen or Hi this is Kevin), the woman on the other end said 'is this Karen', got up and walk to an area I could talk. It was Robin from Doctor Bower's office confirming my surgeries and told me to expect a packet shortly to being their process with me. The only question I had was to find out which day I needed to be there as they want you there one or two days ahead of time. My hope was one day as hotel rooms cost $170 per night and was hoping for Monday (surgery is Tuesday) rather than Friday as I did not want to spend Thursday …

Finally, a woman: A transgender's story Inquirer.net (blog) An interesting interview with post-op transsexual Ramona from the Phillipines. There are no laws that exist in the Philippines that protect transsexuals or transgenders. That is how backwards our country is on many issues. Science moves at such a rapid pace that new laws have to...

I being doing research as what is consider living full-time, Real-life experience as a transgender female? I need to better understand cause insurance policy stats “ Must complete 12 months of living full time real life experience as the desired gender”. This is added for breasts augmentation surgery or for Sex Reassignment Surgery. There is no details on what is consider living full time as a woman. I thought it meant I must be in dresses, heels, full makeup and nails done all the time. What happen I want to be in leggings, jeans, shorts etc.. and no makeup, no long nails and wearing sneakers is that consider living as a woman too? I didnt have any surg…

Hello everyone, It has been a while since I have posted. So I have some good and bad news. But overall things are going well. Better than expected. First and foremost, please allow me to extend my thanks to each and every one of you who post on this site. While I may not have posted much, I have checked in, researched some topics and read a lot of great info and advice. So thanks to all of you. REALLY ! THANKS! The second thing I did after joining this site was to become an active member of the the local support group, and they are great. If you are ever in Tulsa, look up the Gender Outreach Group hosted at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center http://www.okeq.org/…

I get into the elevator at work; there is one woman already on the elevator. Doors closes, she looks at me and says (actually I forget the exact words) how do you like to be addressed? I know what she is referring too and said, “It’s obvious to you?” and she replied with ‘I am reading a strong female presence from you’. It is not that long of a ride and we both get off on the same floor with nobody around. She told me that a woman in her family is transitioning from female to male, which is one of the reasons she felt comfortable talking to me. I asked her if I was presenting male or myself more as a female? Her response was easily female. I really felt good about this co…

I haven’t been on for quite a while ... after a death in my family and a difficult trip to my hometown and a reunion with my Dad and brother to return and face problems at home, issues with my partner that we’ve yet to overcome. I just wanna be done with all the crap that transitioning has attached with it. I feel good in my body, my role ... my gender, finally. I’ve contributed here from almost the beginning of my journey, as I felt better I’ve always tried to be upbeat and supportive and encouraging to those at the beginning of their personal journey, facing who they really are, coming out and starting transition. It is wonderful to finally be ourselves and live in the…

I am not familiar about the methods of how gender reassignment is done with transexuals in surgery. I do not know if the prostate is removed in this practice. My question is : Does a preopt or postopt transexual have a higher risk of developing prostate cancer greater than a man in the same age statistics when the chances are more probable? Thanks

The reason I ask is after many years one might have physical problems related to scar tissue with the functioning of surgically related the surgery. I'm particularly interested in urinary problems. I'm also interested in knowing if anyone has had issues with silicone injections, and if problems occurred over a very long period of time. I can also answer questions about sexual function and longevity. I have lived most of my life as someone considered cis gender. That is, I have very few persons who know about my transitioning and therefore, I'm in the dark about many thing perhaps are common knowledge today. If you have recommendations of good physicians who a…

Hello. First I feel I have to apologise, cos I've written a lot of rubbish, and that just reflects the various phases I'm going through. And, no doubt, I'll write a lot more rubbish, this being maybe one of them. I just hope I haven't hurt anyone or done any damage. But I must admit, I do like this forum as a safety valve, cos otherwise I might explode. You know my biggest problems with being what I am is not public derision (I thought it was, but it's not, I'm not out formally but pretty much everyone knows what I am, and I don't care), Nor is it my personal appearance (I thought it was, but then I see genetic women wiv hairy legs and male features, they're still women).…

The following surprises me that after writing it out that I went into more detail than I would have last year which makes me wonder if it’s the hormones or not. Also I should mention last year from time to time got looks like (male or female?) where I was made sometimes but now that has completely changed were I am not being made at all (or at least that is how I see it). Any ways here are some recent thoughts and observations from the past week. Some moments from the past week that made me smile Two woman friends and one daughter and I went out shopping at a mall for about several hours. I purchased two bras at JC Penny but was not in the mood to try them on as…

Things have been going good for me this week.Went on my first date on Tuesday night with my new girlfriend Stephanie.Met her last week and things are going very well with her.She is in her transition to become the woman she sees herself as too, started in September.I like her because she understands the same thing I have been going through in my life. Was once married and also has a kid,a 14 year old son that has come to terms that his dad always felt he should of been born female. My parents finally came to terms tonight that I was never happy as my old self and I am now happy about myself.A few of my long time friends came back into my life, felt bad about saying I was out …

Like, oh my God, I have a varicose vein on my foot. It kind of sticks out and it's blue. Now my feet have always been one of my best features. People have commented on how beautiful they are (or were). And that's not the only thing, all kinds of weird bumps and blemishes are appearing all over my body. How do you cope wiv this? The ageing process I mean. I'm lucky, like I look 10 years younger than my biological age, but it's all starting to catch up wiv me. Things are starting to droop and sag. Should I just accept it as part of the natural ageing process, or should I fight it, wiv surgery or what have you? My own opinion, grow old gracefully. This opinion is partly driv…
