As many of you know, I have been transitioning for years. So, I write this with joy and also embarrassment, that it took me this many years to get here. As I mentioned in the ftm forum, over my vacation time, I let my beard grow. I came close to shaving it off before going back to work. That fear of what will people say and always trying to just be invisible. Well I kept the beard. And glad I did. I realized that yes, people might talk about me behind my back....So What??? From what I hear they already do. 1 or 2 might say something belittling to my face, So What? That's just 1 or 2 people I do not need in my life. having the courage to finally be me, do what I…

Life is filled with trials and tribulations. Some are pleasant, other not so pleasant. Whatever lessons we glean from this trials will serve us in the future. I listened to a sermon this yesterday touching on this subject. Trials are like studies in school; they are the basic training that we receive before going on our own in the world. Afterwards that training is put to the test. We all travel on our own roads in life. Sometimes we may have to go it alone. My road to self-discovery was one that no one else could travel for me. There may be detours along the way that serve us and help us to embrace new things in our lives. We may discover that there are some thing…

  7. Hi everybody I'm right at the start of my journey. I saw my doctor a couple of weeks ago and told her that I was transsexual - the first person I've told! She referred me for assessment to a gender identity clinic and when I called her secretary today I was told that it will likely take many months to be seen. Does anyone have any information or experience of the time it takes for an initial assessment to take place from point of referral? I guess I should have anticipated some delay (this is our NHS after all) but it's a bit disappointing to have made a commitment to starting down the road to transition only to find there's going to be a long delay before the next st…

Just posting from my own experience. In becoming myself, i used to get so offended if someone i thought cared about me, would use wrong pronouns. I believe if someone in my life is not intentionally doing these things, then i need to not be offended. In talking to my Mom yesterday, my Mom, in referrring to me, said 'she'. And then, immediatley corrected herself. And she was so afraid that i would take offense. I told her, I know you are trying. No offense taken. I believe acceptance has to be a two way street. Yes, we demand acceptance from others. And, we need to accept the fact that even when they do...they might mess up once in a while.

Hi everyone, my name's Claire Bailey, and I have been living as a woman for six years now, am 33, took me a long time to get the courage up to be the real me. Have often wondered why so many of us are given the wrong body, it's one of the most upsetting and hardest things to live with, I mean, being round some ones house you don't like for half an hour is a stress, but living inside a body you disgust is the hardest thing ever! Gosh, I spent 26 years waking up and saying to myself, god I wish i was a woman, and if I cant be, ill die trying It's pretty crazy when you think about it, most people don't understand, they cant, how could they? When I was five, I woke…

So my landlady was here a while ago. She is elderly, uses 2 canes to be able to walk. Her friend who is also an elderly woman was with her. I noticed they were trying to do some stuff outside so went out to see if I could help. I don't see my landlady very often. She does know I have transitioned. Anyway, for the first 5 minutes, she kept calling me by female pronouns. (I guess full facial hair doesn't register.) But I decided to keep my peace. She is a nice lady and I am just not into being that easily offended anymore. Anyway, after that first five minutes, she looked at me and apologized. And all was well. We had a friendly, fun conversation. When she left…

...Yeah, it shouldn't be that way, but it is...and there's not much we can do about it. Yet. So... I once commented somewhere among the many threads here at TGG that it seemed one can usually tell if the speaker (or writer) is lesbian or gay: lesbians will always say "LGBT," and quite often, gays will say "GLBT." Even some straight women and men will follow the same "rule." But no matter what, we are always last. Well, that is, if there aren't a slew of other initials tacked on by the well-meaning over-zealous. Some of you may have noticed that I have recently started using "TGLB" instead of "LGBT" or "GLBT." But that's probably only because maybe I make a f…

Haii my name is Kira but my friends call me Fatigue . After comming out and going to group, i met a transgirl names Roxy who was able to lactate, and proud to mention it, but when i asked how she did it, she gave me the most vauge answer like she didn't want people to know and keep it to herself. and i wasn't about to stop my hormones for an unknown ammount of time in order to induce lacation hoping to start again at the right time... so if anyone knows how to do thing i would like a detailed description of how and all the steps from breast pumps to hormone manipulation. thank you very much :3

Just thought I would throw this out there. Maybe get some discussion going. I know of people that once they start hormones, get immediate results. There are also people, like myself, that had to wait for years to see the change. for me, I was on hormones for about 4 years before I saw anything. And then it was like an overnight change. And then, I had to spend time for my brain to catch up to what I was now seeing in the mirror. It seemed like overnight, I was this hairy beast. Never having to shave, and now, five minutes after I shave it seems like I should shave again. Just thought I would throw this out there because I know a lot of people think transition h…

  19. Hi all, I thought I mention some common sense pointers: It takes way too long for dating interaction through social media websites, It costs on average registeration and per monthly fees $45 for premium access and full features, Response time from male or women it can take forever to get a reply or actual meeting in real world (for me its easier to go out and meet and greet ), Lastly for trans male to interact with male to link up the male checks on trans to see in every detail who he is meeting with. Generally I put all my facts straight up in my introduction page so I don't have to go with introducing myself over and over, the pitfalls of trans dating versus…

  22. Brad Glemser | June 18 2013 4:19 AM ET "I was flying through Miami, and after I went through a body scanner, the TSA officer wanted to pat down my chest. While doing so he felt my chest binder, which I wore every day and which the scanner had consistently detected under my clothes and flagged as an "anomaly." I told him it was a back brace. Calling it a "binder" — something used specifically by transgender men — had often prompted extra thorough pat-downs by airport security. Calling it a back brace meant that I didn’t have to disclose my transgender identity to TSA officers and to other travelers standing nearby." --advocate.com Flying While Trans - Commentary …
