Hello Everyone, As I stand here, trying to get out of the closet, trying to figure out how to tell my family and friends who I really am, to finally come into the light, it has occurred to me that, among other things, what seems to be holding me back is the fear of being alone. Some of this is the fear of leaving the relationships that I have and not finding new ones. Some of this is the fear of being shunned by people I know, people who think they know me. It almost feels like I have to leave my life to find a new one. While I think these feelings certainly have some basis in reality- I will in all likelihood lose people I love - I also believe some of this is o…

Thank those who had some helpful tips on my hair. Of course this is a very minor detail in respect to everything else going on. A big thing for me was finding the right therapist. The third time was the charm for me. I learned how little most of them really know about transgender issues. I had been in therapy for depression for a year until I finally came out to my therapist. He was a nice enough man but he could not help to deal with this at all. I started to have some very deep depressive times. I also have a psychiatrist that did my medications for me. I went back to him, thinking I needed some different meds. He, very wisely said that I did not need different me…

From there, she transitioned into talking about white trans privilege, and she started to even lose some of the trans folk. Nothing she said was the least bit untrue, but nevertheless, the message was building up the very walls she so effectively knocked down moments before." -- advocate.com Op-ed: Why Labeling Others As 'Privileged' Isn't Helping Trans Activists ________________________________________________________ I understand perfectly what the author is saying... but perhaps it's time that Americans face truth and accept reality…

I am early in my transition and have a question about growing my hair out. It is getting to the point where it is not long enough to do anything with but long enough to look scruffy. Is there something I can use on it to keep it less messy while it grows out.

I hope you understand, this is a very real question for me. For example, today I was thinking about telling my son that I am transgender. He's 30, and I imagjne him saying, "Okay, what's that mean?" To which I'd say something about my always feeling not entirely "with it" in the masculine role, envying girls and women, wishing I'd been born one, etc. I don't think he'd get it. Or last week, my wife and I had a meeting with my therapist. She asked me, "What do you feel, that you know you're transgender?" I told her that is a hard question to answer. If I say I feel like a woman "inside," what does that really mean? I said that I feel I'm more emotional, sensitive, and e…

Hullo all I'm still very new to these forums so if this is the wrong place to be posting this topic please let me know! I've been living my prefered gender for almost 2 years now. To be honest, when I started I thought I was never going to find anyone who would accept me for me as a partner, especially after my girlfriend at the time walked out on me a few weeks after I came out to her. It was about a year after coming out that I met the person who would become my first boyfriend. Well... That's a term I should use loosely because this person was otherwise identifying. Xe and I were together for about 7 months. I was really happy to have someone who knew and acc…

I have been wondering about the way we (as a community) refer to women. Why do we so easily and readily call grown women 'girls'? Do you think that we should find another more respectful term rather than 'GG'? What about CGW (cis-gender woman)? Is this not a better descriptor? Am I being too politically correct? Check out: https://daniellaargento.wordpress.com/2015/03/18/referring-to-women/ for more if you are interested.

  14. Hello Everyone, I have a question - I have seen a lot people talk about positive impacts of a participating in a local support group. On the other hand I seem to be running into some problems. What has your experience been in participating in your support group? The problems: I live in a very conservative area - I managed to find a support group, but wanted to ask some questions regarding how public the meeting place is and so forth - if you can change at the meeting etc. It seems when I ask to attend there is no issue getting invited, meeting times, and so forth, but when I ask specific questions, I get a lot of silence - no response. Am I violating some unwr…

So, I started T in october (which is super fantastic, I also realized I haven't been online in a while, and I've been getting messages about the phone conference thing which i constantly mean to call in but never get the chance to) Anyway, I apparently gained 30 pounds and on top of gaining that weight, I have a huge fear of seeing doctors, so I haven't had a Primary Care Physician since I was 18 (mostly because of the fear of my legal name, doctor commentary on my life as far on T and transitioning.) so I went 3 months with an ear infection, which the doctor at the mazzoni center (who prescribes me my T) prescribed me Amoxycillin for. But he urged me to find a PCP and…

I think it is fantastic that people get together on the phone like this which creates a safe haven to actually talk to each other. Sorry I had to jump out but had a call from my mother.

  17. Hi All First off, I hope I do not upset anyone with this post. Please note that I recognise the possibility of the content being upsetting to some but at the same time I am trying to better understand some issues that affect our community. I am writing this in a genuine attempt to deepen understanding and 'ventilate' issues we may face. I therefore apologise in advance and hope that you read this in the spirit and tone that it is intended. I am writing an article for Frock magazine (frockmagazine.com) on the connotations of the word 'tranny'. If you do not mind assisting in this survey, could you please reply to this thread by answering the following questions: 1.…

I remember one day when I was in third grade, sitting at a table with some of the girls in my class. I wasn't very sociable, so I was practically invisible during their conversation. They were talking about who had the longest hair and seeing who could cover the most of their faces with theirs. I wondered what having long hair was like. That's the first time I can remember wanting to be a girl. I never talked about it with anyone. I would fantasize about it late at night, wishing that when I finally fell asleep, I could be a girl in my dreams. That rarely happened, and when it did, I would wake up as soon as I realized it. I would be disappointed in the morning, but fo…

  19. I got to thinking about this today as I had to pick some automobile hardware at an auto parts store . I was dressed in a female top , the usual minimal jewelry , watch , ear rings . Even a decidedly female coat . I probably should have had a picture . O K , the manager who see's me all the time got talking with me about her Mother. I could tell that I was getting a detailed look. I finally leaned over the counter and said, "Look, I have both female and male parts, I'm transgender. Expecting a negative reaction , she patted my arm and said , lets talk outside . We did , she went on about her Mother .I listened . She was way more comfortable with ma that point. I ju…

If you've come out and had an open outright rejection and also had a closed rejection(meaning someone has a real issue with you but doesn't say it) Which one was worse. Or if you not come out as I have not. Which one do you fear more? For me I would much rather have the outright rejection. I think having someone who has an issues and not saying so is much worse, at least for me.

ok so is it wrong of me to be always cautious and suspicious of every male i encounter? i mean i know not all men are pigs and stuff but being that i used to be a male, i know what most of them think of and want, and tend to think with their you know whats. maybe its fear cause im afraid that being hit on by one will turn out to be too creepy for me...i dont know....lately ive been just wary of guys who want to chat with me especially on my virtual game i play.
