I have been lurking here, and on other tg related message boards for several months now. It feels so strange to finally post somewhere, I guess, this is a major milestone, as I have never communicated with anyone about my condition, ever. I'm just going to rant, I hope someone reads this, this boards seems pretty dead. There have been a few big changes in my life that have forced me to re-examine myself. I just turned 24. I went through a bad breakup. But mostly, a friend of mine recently came out as transgendered. In-fact, she had been taking hormones for over a year, and I was going to say something anyway it was becoming very obvious. She seems to be doin…

Life is becoming increasingly complicated. When I was younger (childhood), I remember wearing my mother's clothes when I could (that is, when I was alone) and feeling wonderful, but scared and ashamed at the same time because "that is not what little boys do". I would repress most of those feelings and impulses during high school (at least the cross dressing) and I thought that maybe it was a phase...I thought that since I was attracted to women that it was natural to want to know what it was like to be a woman and maybe that doesn't describe what I was going through accurately, but it's the best that I can do. After college, I married a woman and during my marriage I …

Greetings all, First of all I don’t mean to offend anyone but I am simply a heterosexual male trying to understand what makes a transgender ticks. I was involved with an interesting discussion on transgender being linked to a mental illness. I was saying one that is transgender would qualify as having a "delusional disorder" because they have no premise of the reality that they are either male or female except for their thoughts/feelings of being the opposite gender. I have learned various male transgender having a female bed nucleus of the stria terminalis (BTSc) in their brains, which regulates sexual behavior. Some of the people that found this out were wonderin…

I read a blog this morning and went to reply to it but it was recognized as apam so here it is this way. Posted by Dee_is_me63, Feb 13 2009, 01:01 PM How intelligent is humanity really? Replying to a friends message got me thinking about it.If one were to base it on it's actions one can only conclude it's quite limited. If not,it appears it wants to be viewed that way.Whether you look at it from a logical point of view or simply looking at it from a common sense point of view.Common sense tells us that in the reality of humanity everyone is different and everyone perceives things differntly from one another.Common sense also tells us that humanity can be good and ba…

Where to start.... I first started 'dressing up' around the age of six or so, would find my older sister or my mother's clean panties in their dresser and change into them... would also occasionally change into other items they had as well. This sort of thing just always felt natural to me, around the age of 13 or so I first started to talk about my love for feminine clothing and makeup to some understanding female friends and all throughout Jr. High and High School had regular access to anything and everything feminine because of this. In a lot of ways I feel like I'm nothing more than a cross dresser, though at the same time I'm just not sure. I remember lying …

Y'all were so cool here, and althought I haven't been around much for a long time now, I figured I'd let you know, I'm finally at the end of this segment of my journey. This Thursday is my official "work announcement" by management to my department. Friday's a half day in male mode. Saturday's my last day in male mode altogether (spending it with my family). Sunday's the first day of the rest of my life as Jen. And Tuesday is my first day back to work as Jen. Legal name change is in the works, will come through fairly shortly. Scared to death, along with excited. And sort of dazed -- hard to believe the last two years have gone so quickly. And that I've go…

The title refers to the legendary Phoenix, of course. The ashes are less legendary but still there metaphorically. They are the ashes of the "bridges burnt" during my "successful" career as a Software Engineer. I hadn't known HE was burning bridges. I was told this recently by a recruiter who let me know that he'd submitted my resume to clients who informed him that they never want to work with HIM again. Now I've been unemployed more than 5 months. The unemployment benefits will run out in a few weeks. I have no savings and no other income. As it stands now HE has nothing left. Sometimes HE hasn't even wanted to live any longer and could have taken ME with HIM…

Today was my first day with the gender therapist a F2M medical activist had found for me, only about ten minutes from my workplace. (Which is amazing, here in the middle of cattle country.) She's not a "niche" counselor, she deals with many other patients, but she has actually had a number of transgender clients and even walked with at least one the whole way through transition; so she is probably the most qualified in my neck of the pastures. (She told me today that there are many therapists in our area who would not even touch a TS patient. Which is as expected -- I live in a mini-Bible belt, it's all Bush country around here.) Talking to her, it was very clear to…

I'm almost 19 and I'd like to at some point start this process. I'm terrified of doing it and have been visiting these forums since I was about 15. I used to think that I would just immediately start up on all this when I'm 18 and not go to college or anything, but then I realized that I should probably finish college first and get some more things in order before I start to make any drastic changes. 22 is still really young, right? Anyway, I'm like super hairy and it's driving me crazy. I have hair on my chest and all over. My legs are SO hairy and my arms are pretty hairy too. Facial hair has been coming in more and more over the years and it's driving me nuts. I HAT…

So, for the past year now, it seems, my sexual orientation has been slowly changing from queer to bi, if not straight... Simply put: I'm not interested in women like I used to be; I prefer the thought of being with a man nowadays. I had figured that I was bi from the ages of 14 to 18, which is when I realized that I'd never really been physically or sexually attracted to a man... I've always been emotionally attracted to them because they have what I lack: masculinity. I first noticed that that wasn't the case this last April when I decided to dance with a rather sweet guy I met at a mini concert at a local pub in Trinidad. (My mother and I visited to get a feel for th…

Well, tonight after our usual family dinner I asked my sister to step outside with me so that I could talk to her. and I have asked her to come over to my place tomorrow to talk about some "private issues" I've been wanting to discuss with her. I know shes a very curious person so now that she knows theres something I have to tell her she won't let me get away with chickening out. so I have written her a letter which I will give to her and let her read, I figure it is best that way because I know myself and I will most definately get tongue tied and nervous so I won't say what I need to say or I won't say it how I want to say it. So I will let you all know tomor…

January 20th, 2009. This girl is happy, happy, happy. This past week I received the "FINAL JUDGEMENT OF NAME CHANGE" signed by the judge. Yea, my name is now officially Bobbie Jo per the court, just need to get all of the legal stuff (drivers license, ss card, etc) done. You never realize how many things your name is on until you have to get them all changed. They changed my name in the payroll system at work on Friday, now they are working on changing my email name, etc, etc. Bobbie Jo

I read an article at a website about male to female transsexuals where the author said feminization of the body, when using female hormones, especially breasts, will be noticed by others, even if the person does not want her feminization noticed. An article at another website said feminization of the body will be hidden from others, if the person makes proper efforts. This either/or outcome seems dubious to me. I think one's age at the onset of beginning estrogen and progesterone, genetics, clothing often makes it easier or harder for sufficient feminization, especially breast development, to occur to be noticed by others of male to female transsexuals, who are not t…

Goodday Everybody, I am new to this forum. I have lived half my life keeping my gender-variety a secret to everyone, fearing rejection and discrimination. I pass well (pleased with size of hands, head, hair, body and feet). Generally I am doing fine and face very few problems. Only very few close friends know about my being a transwoman and they also know that I live in stealth. If there is one thing that might give me away is my voice. I have had years of vocal training, and although I do not sound like the average man, my voice is deeper than the average female voice, especially when I am tired or after giving long lectures. Because of my work and active social life,…

I was recently discharged from the Marines due to my growin boobs. Before that I had transitioned at 12 years old and been kicked out of my house at 15 by my parents for it. Dropped out of highschool, started college, enlisted as an officer when I hit 18 after 3 years of trying really hard to be a dude. 2 years later and this is me. I just got to civilian life. I'm in a new city, full time, haven't been on hormones for months, just trying to figure out what to do with myself and waiting for acceptance into the pharmacist program at USC seeing as I have my bachelors in biology. I ride motorcycle and like to shoot guns, I'm impatient and don't like people too much. …

I brought up SRS and Lizzy said it’s something you have wanted a long time and you will end up doing it you might as well get it done. We were sitting in Starbucks (yes there is a Starbucks in the Bahamas and tears just poured out of my eyes. She then said she wants me to be happy but she is not licking and smiled. So now begins which would be the best choice of surgeon and surgical technique and time to aggressively get my body back in shape (which I was going to do now anyway). As I unders…

I am on cloud 9, I had an e-mail yesterday from someone in the local gender service, that I will have my second opinion and assessment for surgery at the same time sometime soon in the New Year. They are contacting my PCT to request the funding be released, once it is, I will be referred to Mr Terry, and if that goes well, they anticipate surgery by mid 2009. Its been the best news of my life. xx Stephanie

Well I really disappeared there for a while. Since my last post a whole lot in my life has happened I guess. I was in another car accident on Oct 1, where a girl ran a stop sign, and so I was without a car for about 6 weeks (got a new one last month). It wasn't a bad accident though. There have been many layoffs at work, but I survived since my manager is leaving soon. In fact I've been promoted. I came out to my family (finally) and they've not talked about it since... the only people who I've still yet to tell is upper management, which will have to be very soon... My relationship situation has changed dramatically. Initially I broke up with my long term gir…
