To recap, I went to see my GP in August 2005, and changed my name by deed of name change in April 2006. I was seen by my psychiatrist in January 2007, was diagnosed transsexual and referred for hormones and voice therapy. In May 2006 I came out to my family, they could not accept it, and totally abandoned me saying I was making a mistake. I wasn't accepted by society either. I feel a little silly posing this question, but I have been occasionally wondering about it for many years. Tthere are sleeveless dresses, short sleeve sweaters, especially babydolls and chemises that reveal so much of one's body offered for sale among women's fashions during the fall and winter, compared to flannel shirts, long sleeved sweaters and cotton pajamas, among men's fashions. Looking at the Victoria's Secret website, they are currently offering much more skimpy lingerie to sleep in than comfy pajamas. I know, from the handouts accompanying my prescribed estrogen, progesterone and spironolactone, as well as reading articles at certain websites, there can be potential serious or relatively minor ill side effects. I have experienced being lightheaded once and temporarily stopped taking these hormones. Occasionally i experience moderately discomfort in my lower stomach, which I do not know if my taking hormones may be a factor. I wonder if anyone has or knows of anyone who had serious side effects from using estrogen, progesterone and/or spironolactone. Thank you.

a thought occurred to me today...so if you ladies don't mind, i'd like to ask a question. from what i understand, one of the reasons your HRT must be monitored is because of the stress hormones put on your liver. why is it that most HRT for the ladies is via pill form rather than the delivery method most common for the guys which is via injection? -michael

hey all. well something pretty dramatic has happened, and I'm a little bit shocked but very happy. I have always thought I could never fall in love with someone who wasn't female, I have just always been attracted to the female body. Today i was on a lesbian chat room which I sometimes go to, and I got a message from a guy asking if he minded chatting with him, so anyway I decided sure i'd happily chat with him as long as he wasn't after sex or anything. So we chatted for a while and ended up trading MSN names. and have been talking for hours since. Anyway, so now I;m seriously questioning my sexual orientation and all.

I wonder if some male to female transsexuals experience any change in their sexual orientation by taking estrogen. While I have wished for many years to experience sex as a female with males, I have never been physically attracted to any non-transgendered males. I still am only attracted to females.

I am more like a girl in how I feel and perceive things but I am born male and live a male life. I am married with a son who I care for more than anything else. I have been a crossdresser since the age of 5 and I have dressed through the years with purge periods. I am very comfortable buying womens clothes and very excited when I can wear them. Hey everyone. I know the idea of talking hormones around here is a tad bit, um, touchy, but I was curious if anyone had any helpful insight on this issue. My friend who is in law school, and also a trans individual, has told me this is 'all in my head' or just completely unrelated to my taking spirotone. At any rate, about a week ago, last monday, I began taking spirotone (generic spiro anti androgen meds.) Now, the first concern I have is, ever since about the third or fourth day, anytime I take it, shortly after (sometimes it takes an hour, sometimes as quick as 15 minutes) I feel weird aching-like sensations in the, um, crotch area. I want to discuss this with my doctor, but are oral hormones more dangerous than injectable hormones. Wouldn't it be nice if transitioning could be as easy as walking into a costume shop? I was looking over the requierements for srs and was about ready to poo on the floor. I know what I want to do already. Replace the annoying dangler with something more comfertable that doesn't fall out of my panties. So, I have to get two schrinks to agree?
