After shopping for skin care products, I feel overwhelemed at all the choices. Narrowing my choices down, I have chosen a toner, moisturizer with an spf rating and a sensitive skin facial cleanser. In general, are use of these products adequate for daily outdoor exposure?

  2. One more step... I am not full-time but working steadily toward it. something inside pushed me to do it. I called Macy's and asked to get in touch with the MAC counter took apointment for a make-up lesson, the lady noted it and set it and asked me "for you ? " "yes". D-Day... nice lady's trousers, long slim top I am getting used to my new female haircut, hiding the mandatory earrings. At the counter, I was surprised that the make-up artist was a beautiful young man. I asked him for chosing the colors as I was a perfect debutante. M yidea was to test only for foundation and powder so my make-up was not very visible today. He not only looked but tested .…

Heyy everyone. I have read some of the boards and I know this will vary on case by case basis and the dr's will give me in depth knowledge. THIS IS STRICTLY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AND OPINION. Are the hormones taken BioIdentical? Or is it the chemical kind? Also I see people taking pills but from my research they say that it is bad for liver and shots are better?? Opinions on this?

  4. Decided to delete; got too much grief from other forums so I do not want to get same grief here on this forum; thank you for whoever did give me some advice, I do appreciate it very much

  5. I've read recently that mothers who took DES hormones during their 1st trimester (which was common for women in the 1950s who had trouble with pregnancy) may have affected their male babies in utero. The DES (which is essentially a synthetic estrogen) interfered with and reduced the testosterone surge in the middle of the 2nd trimester, which may have led to the male baby's "misalignment" between sex and desired/preferred gender. In other words, this might lead to the child's being MTF transgender. I don't know if my mother took DES and it's impossible for me to find out as she's deceased and medical records are not available. I looked around and was surprised to s…

I was sitting down thinking about what to expect for my sex drive after being on hormones for close to a year. Most stuff I read indicated a diminished sex drive and they were right at least for me and if I did not think about it I would had forgotten all about it. Will be interesting to see what I am like one year from now.

  8. Note: I hope this article is a good one. I hate to admit it, but I didn't read it all - I usually read anything I am about post. When I saw the length of this blog, I thought, *nooooo, I can't do that whole thing!* (believe it or not, I'm really not overly fond of reading. And here I am...on a forum!). But the headline seemed like it would be of interest. I hope it wasn't misleading. If it was, you all just line up and you can each cyber kick me (once) where the sun don' shine. So I am very lucky to have such a supportive mother. I was talking to her about all the things I have coming up with process and making my decision. She was amazed at everything I was telling her about hormones. Shes being there as usual and I am very lucky. We even discussed a bit womens names, so I have a couple good ones. I feel thats alot weight off. I also will be seeing my Dr Thurs to go over hormones levels as they are. I am kinda hoping that they are low and close to woman's. Im looking for those signs... I guess we will game plan the hormone regimen as well.... I have not started blogging yet but probably will once a firm decision and plan is in place. …

Hi, I would love to transition MtF but cannot do so at least for now. But to prep my body for full HRT I am considering taking an anti-androgen to reduce my testosterone to female levels. I would greatly appreciate hearing from girls that are on anti-androgens only and what effects they experienced. Thanks for helping, Loe'

My day began with a visit to my therapist who said she would have my letter of recommendation out the last week of the month. She asked me when you plan to change your name. I said after surgery is performed. She responded with, no need to wait, I will write you a letter for DMZ and said she is on a list with them for this. I am moving up the date to change my Driver’s license and official name change in general to December instead of March or April as originally planned. Got home and while in the bathroom noticed my bangs were getting long and for the first time decided to have my bangs trimmed by my regular hair stylist. I walk in and the owner gives me a strange loo…

I was sitting at work eating lunch at my desk when a call came through with no caller ID. I said hello (if I know the caller i say Hi this is Karen or Hi this is Kevin), the woman on the other end said 'is this Karen', got up and walk to an area I could talk. It was Robin from Doctor Bower's office confirming my surgeries and told me to expect a packet shortly to being their process with me. The only question I had was to find out which day I needed to be there as they want you there one or two days ahead of time. My hope was one day as hotel rooms cost $170 per night and was hoping for Monday (surgery is Tuesday) rather than Friday as I did not want to spend Thursday …

I get into the elevator at work; there is one woman already on the elevator. Doors closes, she looks at me and says (actually I forget the exact words) how do you like to be addressed? I know what she is referring too and said, “It’s obvious to you?” and she replied with ‘I am reading a strong female presence from you’. It is not that long of a ride and we both get off on the same floor with nobody around. She told me that a woman in her family is transitioning from female to male, which is one of the reasons she felt comfortable talking to me. I asked her if I was presenting male or myself more as a female? Her response was easily female. I really felt good about this co…

When thinking about passing in public the number one critic for years were children. I would get “the stare” and happy they did not say something like “mommy, (while pointing) is that a girl or a man?”. I never did get that done (the verbal aspect) to me but was in constant fear it would happen to me and everyone would stare at me. The reason for bringing this up is having to wait for a pizza tonight for about 15 minutes with a crowded Little Caesars with lots of parents and children, not one odd stare which is the norm now but had me revisit my past memories. Anyways thought it was worth bringing it up as I am sure most trans-people get this at least once or twice. Th…

Been wearing two thumb rings on my right thumb for over three years, I noticed that over the past two months or so they tend to start sliding off. Well today both slide off so I got out my ring sizer and set it to the size of the rings then shrunk it down till it was snug and also capable of removing. The size jumped from a 10 to a 9 and have no clue why. I am in excellent heath (just had my annual physical) so the only thing it could possible be is perhaps hormones. Anyone else here have something similar happen to them?

Went to my Electrologist this week who has been working on my genital region in preparation for surgery and upon arrival she smiles and asked me to fill out a new patient form. I asked why since I have been seeing her for five years now. She responded with “I am starting early with the new you so fill in female for gender”. Next, my face hurt from a huge smile. I am so fortunate to have found this wonderful woman, as she is supportive to my transition. During the last few minutes of working on me she said something like; will to do your bikini line so you can wear a bathing suit. I looked up and said, you are sneaky and we both laughed. Caveat: I have been pleasantly…

When I first started HRT I was told what the amounts were for estradiol and spironlactone and followed my doctor's instructions. Two months ago I went in for blood work, she [upped the spironlactone]. Then I get a call indicating I was to [double it] and that's it. So I am now getting ready for my regular doctor's annual physical and was writing down my doses only to learn my estradiol is at [a higher dose than I thought]. So from now on I am going to read my labels rather than assume. Note: I have two doctors, one whom I have been using for 20 years and the other for preparing for my transition. After transition my regular doctor is going to assume all aspects i…

  23. The following surprises me that after writing it out that I went into more detail than I would have last year which makes me wonder if it’s the hormones or not. Also I should mention last year from time to time got looks like (male or female?) where I was made sometimes but now that has completely changed were I am not being made at all (or at least that is how I see it). Any ways here are some recent thoughts and observations from the past week. Some moments from the past week that made me smile Two woman friends and one daughter and I went out shopping at a mall for about several hours. I purchased two bras at JC Penny but was not in the mood to try them on as…

As a TG MtF it is such a glorious feeling after 60 years, to feel my breasts as my arms brush by. With the help of a little modern chemistry they have now grown quite significantly. They may only be the size of a French model, but to look down at my t-shirt and see the curvatures, the pointed shape and the nipples outline without the need of my trusty pushup bra that has supported me all these years. It chokes me up, and brings me to tears, from sheer joy and fulfillment. I know some of you must have experienced the same or similar in your TG journey, and thank-you all for your support too. Love to all G

One of the first questions I faced when talking to people about being transgender and married to a woman was that they asked how that could be possible because they thought I would be gay. Around here we all know that gender identity and orientation are separate matters though they are also often related. I thought hard about the female mind and looked deeper into what types of attraction I had for both sexes. I supressed my femininity so much that I didn't face the reality of what kind of attraction I had for men. All I can say is that to me I like both men and women, but it is so difficult for me to understand this myself because what I hear on the news an…
